I once caught two smallmouth on one cast using a dual trihook rapala...

 

I've been saltwater fishing twice. The second time was Key West with the wife and we had a great time and caught tons of little (2-3 lb) red fish.

The first time was a trip to a company owned house on West Palm Beach where I invited some partners in a business venture to try to convince them (unsuccessfully) to stop being assholes. Arrangements were made for a charter, and the morning we were set to go the captain called to tell me the ocean was pretty rough with 8-10 foot swells and asked if we still wanted to go. I was determined and said hell yes.

Long story short, we didn't get to do much fishing. I spent the day puking over the stern while another guy puked over the starboard side. There was one "fish" caught. After hooking it the guy was reeling it in when the line went slack and he thought he lost it. When he got it to the boat, all that was left was the head. The captain explained that a barracuda or shark probably took it.

I still want to try again. Next time Dramamine.

I believe it. Do something often enough and the unexpected will happen eventually.

I once caught two trout on a double setup.
Two leaders off a swivel, one for power bait (which floats), one with a nightcrawler.

I'm thinking barracuda, they're really fast. Saw that happen once.

Long ago, I fished a good bit off the jetty at Vilano beach, just across Matanzas Bay from Saint Augustine.
Where the locals went to escape the tourists.

In March, Bluefish would be on the move up the coast, lots of them.
Ever fish for those?
Very toothy and very pugnacious.
Also very bloody and fishy tasting, but anyway...

So I brought in a pretty big one, several pounds.
As I'm fixing to grab him, he spits the hook and flops between my BARE feet.
Did I mention how toothy and pugnacious they are?
Turns out a white man can jump pretty darn high...given sufficient incentive.
He flopped back into the water.
And good riddance.

Well buddy will have fun opening this. Building a box out of MDF, going to nail and screw it together.
