So guys, lately I've been wondering something. I have King 2.5 extended travel coilovers on 650# springs. I'll soon be moving up to 700#s. But something got me thinking. What is the difference between a 650# coilover cranked up(more) to achieve a say 2" lift, and a 700# coilover cranked up (less) to achieve the same 2" lift. Would a 650# not theoretically have the same tension as a 700# when cranked up?

I hope im explaining this clearly o_O

Your coil is rated for 650 which even if you crank it up (not suggested) from king will become compressed which things like coil binding can occur. Your 650s are rated for 650 lbs to move up in weight while going to 700 will be 700 lbs to move it up an inch. So the tension is different for sure thats why if you go up and add a winch and bumper you go with a heavier spring. Longer coil and other ways to make the spring stiffer for sure come into factor.

What would happen if you run a 650 coil with no weight up front?
