I have an appointment with Toyota tomorrow to have them take a look at some of the issues I have noticed prior to hitting 60k on the odometer. Type your thoughts and opinions if you have had any of the issues and possible solutions.

    1. High pitched whine from rear of vehicle at highway speeds. (TSB to dampen the sound was completed at about 20k). Becomes noticeable with foot on the throttle between about 55 and 70 mph.
    2. Intermittently, when accelerating or motor under load and AC is on, a high pitched ringing comes from what seems like the location of the transmission.
    3. When accelerating, usually as truck goes to downshift, there is a knock like sound or a stumble coming from the engine. Thought it may be needing new spark plugs but have noticed this for probably 5k miles and these plugs are supposed to be good through 60k miles.
    4. Intermittent steering wheel vibration at highway speeds.
    5. Hard clunking coming from drum brakes in rear everytime I reverse and hit the brakes. As I move forward the same happens and resets itself and does not clunk until I brake in reverse again. I had brought this issue to the attention of Toyota around 20k miles who said they just needed to be cleaned. The noise came back within a couple of days.

Dump the truck while you have highest resale available. At 60K, value depreciates quicker... I wouldn’t even take it in, just stop driving it and list as is with slight remaining warranty. That way, potential buyers can take the truck in for their mechanic to evaluate, and can have repaired under warranty when they buy (slight selling point, giving buyer some assurance).

My preference is to always drive a “newer” vehicle, and sell before final warranty times out... that’s just my modus operandi, regardless of vehicle current condition.

I see where you are coming from but i'll be hanging onto this truck for a while. I still have my 98 v6 SR5 with 290k and still running great. First truck I bought new and have spent too much money in mods to get back a good return on it.

So . . . if you trade the truck, what are you going to tow the boat with? . . . or is it a yacht that will be kept at the marina?

From experience I know there are two glorious days when considering a boat.....

The day you buy and the day you sell.

If you are going to hang onto your truck for awhile, why would you have a poll about trading it for a boat?

I'm amazed to see that several posts talk about selling the truck at 60K miles... but then I noticed that I accidentally stumbled into a 3rd gen page. No wonder they wan to get rid of them.
I'm at 180K miles and the 3 problems I have today are:
    1. the strap that holds the gas cap on broke
    2. the passenger side sun visor droops a little
    3. I have a few holes worn in my drivers side floor mat

I have no intention of actually buying a boat, or selling the vehicle. All jokes.

But on a serious note, TW world input on these issues would be great prior to bringing it in tomorrow.

I would argue that we are quite on topic.
