TRD OFF ROAD STICKER WITH MOUNTAINS

I have a 2008 Prerunner with the TRD Off Road sticker that has the mountain range scene. I was with my daughter the other day helping her buy an 11 Prerunner TRD Off Road and the owner commented about my sticker. He said that meant my truck came with a different trim and came with a skid plate, he even had a name for it which I can't recall now. He said he has owned several and sounded like he knew what he was talking about. I thought all TRD Off Roads had the same features and came with a skid plate. I also figured the flares were just an option you picked. I bought my truck used. Her truck has the TRD Off Road sticker without the mountains. On hers the fender flares are white to match the color of the truck and no skid plate. The day before we looked at another 2008 Prerunner TRD Off Road (w/o mountains) and it didnt have the skid plate either, at the time I just thought it had been removed. My truck has the black flares and skid plate. I'm curious if the mountain sticker has some meaning that relates to these differences.

 

I think the mountain sticker is only from custom decal makers like @CBoy808. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

 

I had my bed replaced when I jack knifed a trailer into it.. (thats another story....) I had it done at the dealer and the replacement stickers are factory and match the originals.

 

Rugged trail edition. 08 was the only year it was made.

 

2 of my coworkers have the exact same truck, 08 TRD off road extra cabs and they have the mountain stickers with black fender flares, skid plates and black factory wheels. Every TRD off road that I have seen has always had black fender flares. The skid plate is just an option I believe. But I think for the 08 model year the skid plate was a standard feature.

 

Thanks guys, when I typed in Mountain range TRD Off Road sticker I got nothing, but Rugged trail edition is bringing back hits. As far as all TRD Off Roads and black flares, my daughters 11 has white flares (color matched).

It looks to me like the name came from the fact it was stock with BFG Rugged Trail tires.

 

Unknown if standard or not, but mine came that way. Skid Plate, black flares, black wheels, on a black 4WD extra cab. I didn't know they also put out the 2WD versions of the same.

 

I have a 08 trd off road extra cab but I’m not a pre runner and it came with paint matched flares.

I think I prefer black flares though.
