Similar thing happened to a buddy Who bought a used s10 blazer.
It happened at their mech shop and they offered him another better equipped model.

I’m assuming that the OPs insurance company was notified, wonder what that input was. ...and it would appear on any vehicle report.

100k miles = a brand new truck? I’d like another one for sure, but expect a low mile Toyota certified one with an extended warranty in exchange for it- like maybe a Pro? Seriously, expecting a brand new truck given the miles on the other one is asking for a lot. :crapstorm:

Then if you have that responsibility over your head it would be in your best interests to be the best at your job so you don’t lose it. That means not screwing up your job. You change the oil and rotate tires for a living. It’s not that hard.

Also what about when after a few times of not rotating those tires you end up having to fork out $900 for a new set after you’d paid for rotations and never got them? You know and you’re working 2 jobs to feed your family.

1st, I only got through like 8 pages. Not gonna read another 15, sorry.
The difference in damage from to right to left side looks like there was some different forces applied. Which means twisting in addition to just straight down. This is bad. Figure out a way to not own that truck any more. See below.
Should be able to negotiate something along the lines of trading your truck into them for dealer retail value (not trade in value, not private party value), then buy a new truck at invoice. And have them swap over your aftermarket items. (or not, up to you)

If they don't want to, then just let em buy it at retail value and take your business somewhere else, but you'll have to pay the difference in the tax savings.

I'm guessing since it's transmission work, the truck was at least 6 feet up.

Well update. I have a new picture.

I'm sitting at dealership now talking about exiting into a new truck.

But in case you're wondering someone I took it to pointed out that the shell hit the cab when it fell. So there's a dent there on cab side.
Also the gap between cab and truck bed is not the same. Twice as big on one side that the other.

I did drive it today. But now seeing what they offer on the other truck.

and now we all know why the shell moved because it bounced off the cab. I'm pretty sure when it fell it dropped on the tow hitch some to transfer that energy into the truck to bounce that shell. If it purely landed on the rear wheels, the tires, shocks and leaf springs would have absorbed a lot of the fall.

laughs, it's 25 yrs. old. It's older than he is. It's old enough to have a Masters degree.

It's as reliable as it is the moment the person test drives it. That's it. That's all any old car is.

I agree anyone should know it was submerged but I don't get everyone thinking these things are guaranteed to go a 1/2M miles.

FJ40s were known for toughness but I wouldn't buy one for a reliable daily.

I can see this truck on the dealer lot already: “lady driven / low miles / owner sold because moving to another country”

Don't know what you have, but I checked Kbb and Nada for dealer retail on a 2016 Dclb Or.
They both agree around 26k. Should be able to buy a new one for 35k.

That's what I would be shooting for. Spend $10k, get a new truck. Fair compromise to me. Keeping all your sliders and stuff ofc. Both sides lose a little.

They’ll put an OR hood on it and rebadge it SR5. The dealer always wins.

Watching this video through a few times, I realize these two pillar lifts really are fubar. They really should be banned. You can certainly tip a vehicle off a traditional hydraulic lift, but at least the structure of the lift is in the centre of the vehicle, so it’s much less likely. With these side pillar lifts, when one side goes, yer just done. So much opportunity for error compared to a true hydraulic lift.

I am glad your Tacoma didn’t kill someone.

I guess I have to decide what I'm willing to get in trade in for 2016 sport long bed with 97k with plenty of offroad pin stripes and a messed up back bumper.
