My truck is just about 3 years old and sits out in the sun all day. I take care of it, and wax it every few months but was contemplating removing the Chrome Tacoma Emblems from both front doors. Has anyone removed them off of a MGM or dark colored truck after it being on that long? I am afraid that once it is off, you will be able to see the outline or under the emblem will be darker then the surrounding area so you will still see a shadow on the paint. That would bug me more then just leaving it on.
    Thanks.

I just recently took them off my black Taco that I bought in '15 that sits outside all day, every day, and I had no issue. There was a little ghost lettering remaining at first, but polish and wax took care of it no problem. You'd never know they were there.

Thanks for the reply. I had a 2000 CRV back in the day that I bought used. It had one of those dealer stickers on the tailgate that I didnt like so I removed it after it was on there for at least 4 years. After waxing, the darkness went away, but when the wax was gone, the ghosting came back until the day we got rid of it. That would be my concern. I guess if I wax the truck all the time, it should be okay...

Do you have a close up picture of it removed?

Just speaking for my truck, the polish alone got rid of the ghosting. The wax didn't even really come into play.

Thanks for the pic! Hard to tell, but cant really see it in the picture. Maybe I will try one side and if it looks okay, do the other or just put it back on.

I used a blow dryer and they simply pulled off. A quick hit of Goo Gone and some wax...
