Devils advocate, but what would it affect in the big scheme of things? It's not like the claim for the damage amount is going to change.

I've had multiple claims over the last 30+ years and never even came close to being screwed by an insurance company. You want screwed, start doing illegal things and then see what the insurance company is capable of.

Have your house burn down or a major medical event and then get back to me.

Hmmm. rent house burned, came out fine. Over a week in the hospital with a max of $600 out of pocket expense. Still smiling. Still no reason to start committing felonies to save a perceived buck.

My wife was in a hit and run. Our insurance company collected our comprehensive deductible and her car was fixed.

Thought I'd post a small update for future references to other people who have similar damage. Got a quote from the dealer collision today and it turned out at ~$2,800.
There's damage on the bar behind the grille and bumper that I had not noticed.

Glad you did an insurance claim. Majority of collisions have more underneath damage than what surface damages can be seen.

Plus nearly 3k is a hard pill to swallow.

Glad you took it in, and didn't chalk it up as "justa scratch" . In my mind; if it's not worth fixing, it's not worth comprehensive coverage.

I’d at least ask to see the cameras. Not gonna be a lot of trouble maybe the car drove from the front of the store where there are cameras to the back and hit your car or maybe it’s a huge commercial truck with a logo on the side.

Probably only going to have footage for like 30 days max. Ended up being a lot more damage than I would have thought.

Once I saw the headlight damage I immediately decided to claim it on my insurance. A headlight for my halogen only 2005 350z cost $350. I could only imagine how much for my 2016 truck! The support behind the bumper is also something I would've completely missed.
