sorry, this is so subjective as we can not see all/any of the issues. Is there oil in the spark plug wells? might need those seals. when was the PCV valve last replaced, if you dont know then put a PCV valve and new seal in while you are there. Are the half moons leaking? There are the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets to consider too plus any vacuum hoses and coolant hoses that you have access to now that the intake is off. When you take her apart it will all make sense.

I did mine about 6 months ago. Timmy the Toyotaman's video on this topic was essential (as was the one on the timing belt).

what point in that video shows the pcv valve area?
yes, i know where it is,
i wish to see the surrounding parts what they look like
or maybe somebody has a picture of the back side of the passenger side VCG with everything attached
i had something recently pop when I opened my hood at a storefront lot, been checking all my bolts and whatnot make sure they all there, may have found what broke off!?!
@CS_AR , did you have a pic floating around here where I am referring to?

Let me check. The PCV valve grommet is on the (right) passenger side at the front top, just above Cylinder 1.

It's the hole on the left looking from the front of the engine in this picture.

there is a black strip (plastic) that runs along the inside (in the valley?)
looks like its supposed to be screwed in someplace near the covers
might be some type of wire harness channel?

Here's a "before" valley pic. The knock sensor harness is the gray cable in the picture.

it is somewhere in this area with the marker
looks like a long black stick, maybe the harness runs inside it?

The top of the PCV valve is the white L-shaped tube to the right of the red oval.

thanks, I know where the PCV is located!
i was looking under the hood making sure various bolts and nuts were accounted for and then I noticed some empty bolt threads and black plastic strip with the harness coming out, just wondering exactly how it should be attached or not
i will work on getting a pic in the next day or so

    Are you talking about this?

    20190505_214142.jpg

There is a tab that commonly breaks off of these wiring harnesses where the valve cover bolt holds in place. Ask me how I know...

Yup, had the same problem with broken tabs and heat shield.
    This was my solution,
First I wrapped the plastic harness with 300 degrees heat resistant Tesa tape and used these wire loom brackets.
    Worked perfectly

Reading my mind buddy.. I do stuff like that and use the wire loom brackets.

I ditch the hard plastic that tends to become brittle with age and cuts into wires -- causing electrical gremlins. Then I wrap with F4, use a flex conduit, and wrap with F4 again.

I used a silicone tape as well. Looms were in good condition and weren't brittle, but I figured a little extra insurance couldn't hurt...
