What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Front diff, tcase, and rear diff fluid changed last night.
Lots more to do for my 60,000 maintenance. Stealership wanted 1700 smackers for my 60k maintenance. I'll get it done myself for around 300 bucks in parts/fluids.

Yeah, I work for a Wilmington Ohio based family owned trucking company. R+L Carriers...Everyone I've met from there over the years seem like good people.

 

Changed my oil and filter.
Pressured washed the frame (for FF next week).
Checked tire pres.

 

Been considering this, how do you like it? Any noticeable throttle response/horsepower gain?

 

The build execution is great, my only complaint is the seal to the fender could be thicker, so while it draws from the fender like stock it isn’t sealed as well, pulling a very small amount from the engine bay. I did use the front block off plate as I didn’t want to pull hot engine air.

I originally purchased the larger GT Momentum one and didn’t like how it massive it was. I believe this AFE intake was sold under the TRD brand as the TRD CAI, before TRD switched to the current and less performant panel filter version. I like the design of the product much better.

I have only gone out on one AFR mapping run which consists of a series of WOT as long as possible to validate I’m not running lean under boost. The CAI is reasonably quiet until you get the RPMs way up and then I can hear it a bit over the supercharger. I can’t say I noticed more throttle response, but I’ve only gone for one drive so far. As far as CAIs go, this is the one to get IMO as it keeps the sealed air box design pulling air from the fender. In supercharged applications the stock air box is a bottleneck, so going to a CAI allows for more power. I wouldn’t expect much usable gains in a NA setup thought, as the gains are going to be at the top of the RPM band. The larger Momentum version does have an optional front air scoop for even more air flow but I don’t think it is going to give substantially different performance results.

 

Almost bought theses caps, cautionary advice my brother got some on Amazon and after one winter these little bastards were seized on! Had to have a tire shop heat them up to get them off, had to replace one sensor!

 

Thanks I appreciate you looking out for me. I will have to keep an eye on them when winter comes. Might put the others back one during winter.

2009 DCLB 4x4 SR5. Super clean with a ton of life left!

 

Changed out the oil and removed some under hood winter grime with simple green

 

Installed my new to me kings rides awesome, also took off the sway bar

 

Got the truck back from the 4.56 regear and dual differential lock! It drives way nicer now, just gotta get through the new gear set break-in purgatory



Then I gotta get this beautiful SOS Concepts bumper off to powder coat on Monday

 

Mounted up a catch can today. Probably unnecessary but aren't most of our mods?

Busy weekend so far. Installed my lift in the truck yesterday took 6 hours for all four corners. Went with 5100’s all around and 884 OME Springs and AAL in the back. Put the 1/4” spacer for the taco lean in also. Gained about 3”. New wheels next.

 

Installed Total Chaos Fabrication UCAs today in preps for my OME 886 and EL096R HD install Monday. 885s and the tired leaf springs with Deaver AAL coming out.
