I pulled the control box off the spooler after putting on the control box bracket that came with the bumper hardware and I’m drawing a blank here. It seems like the wrong bracket but then again I don’t see any mounting points on the box itself without drilling, and even then it seems like it would crack the plastic after a while

Let me know what ya think I want this bad boy on soon.

The bracket is for a different model of warn winch.
I drilled 4 holes into the bumper and ran the screws underneath to hold the box.
The problem is it blocks a good deal of the sight hole. when I re-spool after winching I cant easily see if the cable is spooling correctly or not.

Thanks, I’ll make a template for drilling today. Did you center it in relation to the sight window?

Yes I centered it. It does not leave much room to see the spool.
One day I will work on making a brakcet

I also centered it and went to mount it yesterday, it hits the grill.cant mount the bumper cuz box is too far back. So now I put one screw through the existing control bracket hole and that gives me more room but now I can’t get the back two screws because it’s too far forward and they are over the window.

On your bumper you have more surface area in front of the grill than I do. Mines 04 and the bumper is recessed to the point that a bracket will have to be fabbed for it. Currently have it tied to the grill with wax coated 9-cord from work. , it is secure but I will make a bracket sometime soon

My ebrake cable broke today. Never a dull moment 472DA6D7-20B0-4DAA-902A-797D568B3395.jpgACF91484-FAB5-4C88-82FB-113284F76759.jpg1FF4C729-D6DB-4634-B00F-A7F1B5DD955C.jpg01FDAB67-9733-4034-A112-35683C045521.jpg

How did you like the vr8000 on your 1st gen? Do you feel it is strong enough or would you go with a stronger winch if you did it again.

Reason I ask is, I have a warn XD 9000 on my 97 but want to put it on my on my 2014 and put this vr8000 on my 97

Mine control box is mounted to the same ARB bracket, but my winch is a Smittybuilt. The holes in the control box just happened to line up and easily screwed in. I know that doesn't help, but I was wanting to move the control box to under the hood anyway and was hoping someone in this thread would post about that. It shouldn't be difficult, just get some large gauge cable and mount it securely.
