    @HPTuners

so is the speedo correction radius? The stock file given showed 368mm but its actually 386 for a 245/75/16 for my model.

a 315/75/16 has a radius of 439.45mm but i bumped the number up to 473 and it made zero change

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
This was why I also told people hold on selling speedo calibration stuff. I made changes and zero result on the speedo. I know the speedo has a manual sensor with gear wheel in the tranny but figured HPT would intercept and adjust the signal to the speedo.

Autos get the speed signal from the abs. Hence why gears dont effect the speedo but tires do.

Definitely didnt work, i was hoping though. Not the only reason i bought it. Ill start tuning my gto too

Where do manuals get their speed signal from? Because i regeared to 4.10s on stock tires in my 6spd and my speedo is still on the money

Mine seems to be pretty close (speedometer vs phone gps) but my tires aren’t that big compared to stock. 275/70/17 vs 265/65/17.

At 60 on the cluster, my phone gps says I’m going 62. I don’t know if the change I did in HPT made a difference because I didn’t make a comparison before/after. Either way, a 2mph variance is close enough for me.

That sounds like stock figures. Seems like the Toyota always are going about 2 mph slower than shown on the gauge at highway speeds

Generally in Toyota's the instrument cluster gets the speed signal directly from the ABS (EBCM) module based on the wheel speed sensors, this same (pulse) signal is passed thru to the PCM as well. For automatics the PCM also receives the inputs from the transmission output speed (TOS or SP2) and uses this to calculate a vehicle speed for various transmission related things, and sometimes used to check the received ABS speed signal. So unfortunately there's no way the PCM can modify the instrument cluster.

    parts and stuff
Manuals get them from the speed sensor that’s in the transfer case.

Great bit of info right here! Explains why the 6spd cals don’t have the gear ratio and tire radius tables..

I got my NA tune from @JustDSM and got it loaded yesterday. Here's the few things that I really like about it. There was a delay between the time the gas pedal was pressed and when the engine started, that is totally gone now and the truck revs pretty instantly and makes shifting feel more normal. The other thing that is nice is that the truck doesn't "lug" as much in higher gears and can pull smoother from a little lower RPM, if that makes sense. On the freeway, the truck cruises along easier and keeps it's speed on a certain long hill in 6th gear where it would normally start to lose a little speed. I know these changes from the tune won't be drastic as my truck is NA and has to pull heavy 37's, but any positive changes in any area helps out.

FWIW, my wife mentioned to me that the truck pulls harder after the tune. I notice it, but not as much as her, the one always riding shotgun.

I sent Justdsm a couple datalogs and he is working on a little more aggressive tune for me to try out. I can't thank him enough for his patience with me and all my questions he answers. Also, can't wait to try the revision out.

Awesome!! I appreciate your feedback! Thanks for sharing with the group what your experience has been and working with me to get you the most out of your HPTuners investment! I'm excited to see what we can do with further revision of the baseline tune.

Gonna finally work on the truck tomorrow. Moms coming over to watch kids. I got so much to do but just wanna get it running so I can get to tuning. Still haven’t hooked my meth up either. What to do what to do.

Yup. Otherwise when I swapped in my T56, and wired the OEM sensor wires into the T56 sensor, it wouldn't have worked.

I got a chance to load and test the revised tune from Justdsm and it is nice. There is a difference that I can feel when the truck is pulling from a low RPM in open and closed loop. I took a drive last night that included a long hill through the mountains on the freeway that I could never make without downshifting to 5th. The truck can now hold it's speed in 6th and make it, my ultra gauge showed around 50% throttle position and the truck was in open loop. It could not do that before!

I feel that this is probably the best my current setup can be and will be datalogging a few runs to send to Justdsm to make sure this tune is running safely.
