Lots more to do ... rear wall insulation and finish, build deck with access to storage areas. Any thoughts from the group would be greatly appreciated.

put in some sound deadening. the cabs are made out of recycled tuna can tins and you just removed two seats worth. That back wall is especially bad. I deadened my cab and that back wall was a real treat/pain to do and I'm still not happy with the results.

I was thinking of adding 3" fiberglass behind a 1/2" plywood panel covered in carpet. Do you think that would be sufficient?

deadening is all about decoupling resonating mass. the best way to do this is closed cell foam, mass loaded vinyl and metal backed butyl sheets.

he's retired but left all the info on the up online. just a fantastic dude. here's my odyssey: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/14-dcsb-sound-deadening-project.332608/

Thinsulate automotive insulation is really good stuff. I'd do some closed cell foam, Thinsulate and then the ply.

thinking about this and for staying cheaper/economic because those components add up. hit up your local fabic store and get some foam from them. melamine foam, they should have something similar. also score some tuff fabric or outdoor carpet laminated to the floor. don't want your best friend sliding around.

I've found the large memory foam shower mats work excellent at being comfy, insulating, durable and soaks up the dirt and water like a champ. icing on the cake is the grippy rubber backer. GUEST_978332fd-2f2d-4a75-91c0-3b240741a2af.jpg

this company... we have their runners all over the house, wash machine safe. can't go wrong.
https://dgspetproducts.com/products/dirty-dog-doormats we buy them at the dog shows, there are lots of imitations...the original is king. they are not padded though...dogs don't seem to mind and like sleeping on them anyways.

Hi TW! Well phase one is done. In an effort to control cost I have used materials in the shop. I installed butyl self stick material that I use to weatherproof new window installs, It definitely helped. I used 1/2" plywood with 1/2" high density carpet padding glued to the back side with indoor/outdoor carpet glued to the front. I am keeping this mod reversible for future resale. I know the purest will find some issues but cost is a factor. Now to complete the deck with access to jack storage etc.. But the Big guy can climb in and ride in comfort now! Oh! Regarding the steel in the rear wall, I broke 3 new bits attempting to drill screw holes. I had to purchase a high strength bit to bore 1/8" holes for mounting screws (go Toyota).P4300001.jpgP4300003.jpg

Finished the deck today using 3/4 plywood. I decided to do a double hinged design so that I could access storage areas underneath. I ran short on hinges so off to the hardware store tomorrow. Let me know what you think. My thanks to Kasnerd for your suggestions on sound proofing, I can not believe how much quieter the cab is now.

I have been toying with the idea of a seat delete and platform for the dogs, but I’m hesitant to go forward because the misses is hoping for a baby soon. With that, I’ll need room for a car seat.

    I’d rather get another dog.

Good thing there's plenty of room for both back there! Took the 60% seat out and kept the single seat for a long time. Just took it out because we decided to get the dogs a bigger crate. As far as the kid...every kid should have a dog. It's practically requisite.
    Truck Yeah.

I just installed some custom sunshade for my camper yesterday. I have two Huskies and they do not do well in the heat. I have 50/50 sliding windows and the front window drops. I use cooling mats and cordless fans that clip on to the edges of the bed. Cost me about $25 total for the sunshade & velcro that attaches to the camper carpet liner with the velcro. I can even shade the glass above the tailgate too.

I think it's best you don't have a child if you are willing to let a thought like that leave your brain. I hope that didn't come off too harsh.

It was more meant to be a joke about how much I love my dogs. You are entitled to our opinion, even if its a douchy one.

Guy tells other guy not to have kids based on a single remark other guy said.

Guy gets called a douche then tries to take the high road, acting like he wasn’t the one starting shit.

    Welcome to the internet.

Sorry to jack your thread with the schoolyard bs op...
