So I have relatively long arms and when out shooting the AR today I realized it is a bit awkward. When trying to adjust the scope and get my face down there my earmuffs get in the way and can’t get in just right. When adjusting my position and firing it knocks the muffs back. Borrowed slimmer earmuffs from bro-in-law but after seeing photos of me shooting it today I think either the stock is too short (adjusted all the way out already) or maybe I need to raise the scope up. Any suggestions to make it a bit more comfortable? Pic below for reference.

Lean into that rifle and put your nose to the charging handle. It'll give you a constant sight picture. Having long arms shouldn't affect shooting, I've seen all shapes and sizes shoot a 14.5" m4 in the Army. You do gotta find whats comfortable for you though, but for the vast majority leaning into the weapon getting squared up and putting your nose to the charging handle is a good place to start. I can't tell what optic you have but it looks very similar to an ACOG so getting closer to the optic should help as well. You can always use foam ear plugs I used them for most of my time in service, cheap and won't ever be in the way. I have peltors but have never had a weapon knock my ear muffs off.

My earmuffs always hit the stock. It sucks. Try some good ear plugs.
And maybe adjust your stance, lean forward a bit? That pic looks awkward.

Sorry to bring this up again but I am just curious how peoples earmuff always hit the stock. Maybe I have a long head or something but I also have big ears.

Your scope sits higher than mine. Much much higher. That is what I think part of my issue is. Gotta find a riser of some sort to see if that helps.

Different body shapes, different gun stocks, etc. My AR I have no problem, Rem 700s yes. Any stock with a comb yes. Mount a shotgun from low ready? Clunk! My muffs are slimline too. :notsure:

I guess i've never noticed it when shooting my 7mm, I will have to pay attention next time to how close i get. It really could be how I place my cheek too I suppose.

The Howard leight lowpro muffs don’t interfere with my stocks. Rifle, shotgun, or otherwise.

lol you have like an 1.5" riser on that! if you had the flip up sights mounted on the rail your earmuffs would hit the stock...
