Tacoma accidents

I just saw the Subaru commercial where he says "my Subaru saved my life". It gave me an idea. What is the worst accident you have been in with your Tacoma? Not so worried about stories or anything like that. Not trying to be morbid either. I am interested in how bad a Tacoma can be damaged with the driver coming out alright. Pics are preferred.

Hit some ice on a poorly designed expressway here in Omaha doing about 40. Bounced off the concrete center devider and that was it for that truck. It had surprisingly little damage but the frame was bent. I was A-okay except for my pride. I forgot to mention, I had only owned it for 4 months and it was my first new (to me) vehicle in almost 14 years.

 

That sucks ass.

The 4WD Taco's bumpers are at about the beltline level of most cars. Against a car, even one of similar weight, the Taco is more survivable.

Oh damn! I drove for Werner Enterprises for a bit. I was stuck in Omaha for two days while my truck was getting worked on.

 

i rolled my 07 and walked away from it(actually drove 1/2 mile home in it).
the end rolled his with 2 passengers and all 3 were fine.
imo ........pretty strong truck

 

Toyota definately designed their crumple zones nicely. Everything folds except the cab keeping the driver alive.

 

So that must mean everybody driving that "poorly designed expressway" that day also crashed?

 

I think avoiding accidents is better than surviving one. I've told this story before:

In February, I was driving on what appeared to be nice dry roads at 75mph. All of the sudden I hit black ice and thought for sure I was going to spin out of control and fall into huge drops on either side of the highway and roll over.

However VSC came in and got the vehicle back in control before dropping off either side. It was a little scary. The Tacoma got to both edge of the road before regaining complete control again. I know some of you "old hats" don't like VSC but unless you can break each wheel independently, and respond to a loss of control at 75mph, there's just no substitute.

 

I went head on into a parked UPS truck @ 35mph..............I have pics somewhere ....................................Other than a little sore came out w/out a scratch.............nice seat belt bruise tho....................

 

had a guy roll his tacoma DC 6 times on turn pike and walked away with only lacerations driver side cab was partially crushed in and both rear tires where ripped off the axles, pulled up on that wreck and was like damn nice knowing my truck can stand up to that and not be incomplete pieces.

 

damn... normally.... that would be an "oh shit" run.. he must have been hauling some ass to flip that many times

 

I guess not everybody, but there 4 other separate accidents within the same 2 mile stretch at the same time as mine. I am also willing to bet there were many more after me. Maybe I shouldn't have said poorly designed, but poorly executed. My fiance's father helped design the bridge/expressway so I have first hand knowledge. Their design called for a system built into the bridge that was supposed to release a chemical that prevented ice from forming in the exact area where my accident took place. The system was cut in the final stages due to costs. There have been several lawsuits against the city due to accidents on that stretch of road.

 

Na some asshole cut him off and fled the scene
