CAI TRD 2010 & MAF Problem

Since 2 months ago, i installed my CAI TRD 2010 and few miles later appeared check engine light (CEL) i try: clean MAF sensor , check all installation,disconnect battery and nothing......last chance is change MAF sensor.........anyone knows any solution before replacing the MAF sensor?.

 

Reinstall stock intake and see if it goes away.

My guess is an install issue..are there any leaks? Everything tight on the throttle body, vacuum line installed correctly?

 

How about finding out what code is being thrown? Why replace a MAF sensor when maybe that is not even the issue?

I have had the same thing with my K&N intake. I have replaced with the stock and it goes away. I have tried cleaning the trottle body, the MAF sensor, check and rechecked all lines. Sometimes when driving it will go off, but then come back on. I got the code checked and it is saying vaccuum leak, so I need to get some clamps for the lines just to be sure everything is as tight as it can be. I think I am going to dump the K&N for a TRD soon though.

 

Remember the exact code number? Very interested as I have been considering CAI and K&N is on the list.There is the vacum hose on the back side of the stock Air cleaner housing. I think that is that the only vacum line. I would make sure where the line connects to on the K&N
(assuming it is resused) is not blocked.

 

If you have the type of CAI that uses oil on the filter element and you over oil it, or it comes with too much oil on it from the factory, the oil will get pulled into the MAF and throw the check engine light on.

They make regular MAF cleaner that comes in an aerosol. I would suggest using that and drying some of the oil out of the filter element.

 

I had a CEL Light from my Volant intake. I had to purchase the URD calibrator so the MAF sensor got a good reading. I believe the code that kept poping up was P1001

 

I think the re installation may be the answer and is cheap to change the MAF sensor. Tomorrow I'll try re-installing everything.

 

Look into a Pro dry filter, no oil, no MAF fouling.

Yes, is use oil , but how can i know it is over oiled? I cleaned the MAF sensor twice times and always go off but then .....is there again CEL light.

I'd be interested to find out what's causing this as well. I was thinking of getting a TRD CAI.

 

How do you tell which is which?

 

I'm thinkin you may have damaged the maf sensor.

 

The old had the aluminum cover and the new has the plastic cover with red letters and an indicator of filter status.I think the filter element is also different.

 

The code is P0101 , any suggestions
