Stuffed grommet in mine and pushed it as far down as it would allow. I love the shaft exposed rather than having the boot cover it up. @St.Germain

Maybe one of these days I will get around to taking pictures of the physical parts so I can create a separate thread for the connectors.

All of my detailed information was moved out of the OP and currently resides in post #124 ... had to hide it as it became apparent it was just confusing a substantial number of people.

Give me an hour and I'll take a shot of mine... it's not flush to the knob but it's a Mustang retainer that acts as both retainer and jam nut. Looks super clean IMO.

@Z2A6X2 This would be my solution. It has a small channel below what you can see so you can ziptie the boot into place like OEM. Super comfortable to wrap your hand around with the ball. Only downside is it's a little higher than OEM so the boot is slightly tight in 6th but it seems ok enough for me.

What size grommet did you end up using? I will probably go this route. I think I like the shaft exposed a little now that I've been rocking it a few days, makes it feel a little more "truck-ey" lol

It's a $1 grommet from HD. If you search for "home depot grommet," the PN will come up in many threads including this one.

One caution is that with the grommet, you will see the shiny chrome of the collar below. I painted mine.

Got the mixed size pack at harbor Freight tools for like 5 bucks. Honestly forget the size, but it fit like a glove. I want to say it was the 7/8th inch size now that I look at the package. provided

If I remember correctly, it is the 5/8” inner diameter and 1" outer diameter rubber grommet that works best. Then you cut the lip off one side and should go right in and cover the top.

Hopefully I got that right, haven't done my own yet. Just got my TRD cueball knob during the 40% off sale and haven't gotten a chance to look at the actual install yet.

i prefer the look of this compared to the boot being higher or having the chrome collar... any info on how you did it?

I’m in the middle of my 1k mile road trip home after picking up my MT on Saturday. I wouldn’t compromise on the transmission, among other things, and the closest dealership that had what I was looking for was across state lines. I’d do it all over again and couldn’t care less about what others think about my journey to pick up a truck with a manual transmission. To me, the trip is actually a plus.

I drove 4 hours over State lines to find the right truck/price as well. Local dealers wouldn't even come close on price, they thought I would pay a premium for them to get me a truck...

I placed an order for mine and waited 2 months for it to show up. I don't have patience in the first place and waiting 2 months was rough but it was totally worth it when it arrived. Just over 85,000 miles in 2 years time.

I ordered mine after Thanksgiving 2016 and it didn't arrive till the end of March 2017, but was well worth the wait!

Nice! I like your style. I flew out to CO from CT to get a Lightning once and I flew out to OH and drove back to MA for my Porsche 996 911 Turbo.

I know exactly what you mean. I live in LA and several dealers had their manual non-Pro Tacomas marked up by several thousand dollars. Some might pay that, not me. Especially for a combo that wasn’t exactly what I wanted. Found a truck with everything I was looking for out of state and called the dealer up and was able to get a few bucks over invoice in couple minutes. I may have been able to get more off but the person I was dealing with was so straight forward I didn’t care. I was on a flight two weeks later...

I also flew out to San Jose from LA to pick up an M3 once. To me, a road trip to pick up a car can be an added bonus to the buying experience.
