Your right on that aspect of it but in cornering the front end washes out easier. Is the short bed more squirrly on the straights on ice? I don't know but Probably, but not enough to worry about it.
There are ups and downs to the long and short bed. Thats just my personal .02. I just get tierd of the front end washing out on me. I'm driving the truck harder then 90% of you to. Any normal person wouldn't have any problem or ever notice it.

Explorer Sport Track has a 50" bed, the Tacoma short bed has a 60" bed and the long bed is 72". The short bed Tacoma falls roughly in the middle of the two, with nearly the same difference on either side.

So, if the short bed Tacoma is "just like" the Sport Track, then it must be "just like" the long bed Tacoma.

LB takes a little time getting used to looking at, but the SB just looks wrong (at least to me). The access cab looks the best, but I needed a backseat.

Long box!!! Looks like a more proportionate truck. I drive a double cab short box for work. Its easier to drive but looks funky and unproportionate. I love my long box.

Long looks better to me anyway. But more importantly if you're planning on using your truck bed for anything go with the long box. It really surprised me how many people on here like the short. Why'd you get a truck?

Short box has a much smaller turning radius. That extra foot for the box is right in the middle of the drivetrain. Plus, that truck is long as hell when its a longbox double cab.

Long bed. The reason I dont have a DCLB right now is because I cannot find a good used one! I have an access cab now and the back seat is just too small for me, and there is no way I can give up that bed space.

At least for me, i need to haul shit and 2 enormous dogs around ( especially to a cabin and to the beach house where there are no paved roads). I also need to tow a light track car.

DC TRD offroad can't be had in long bed, so short bed it was if i wanted a rear elocker. i also hate the faux hood scoop. no turbo = no hoodscoop.

if i could have gotten a trd offroad with a longbed, i would've gotten it.

Rivet Joint Nice Tacoma! Long Bed is the only way to go. Now you need some nice off-road tires and some good place to go get it dirty. LOL

IMHO if you have a DC the long bed looks better (which I have). the other models look good with either. Now if your talking utility - long bed all the way.

I really just want a DC long bed with a 6 speed. Is that too much to ask? Apparently, as it doesn't seem to exist
