All the feels watching the series finale of season 3. Legitimately going to miss the studio. Thought this year they really got it dialed in with conversation street and getting rid of guest races etc. Specials in the past have always felt special cause they were so few. Going forward with every episode being a special I don't know how it can retain that feel. Given their budget I do have high hopes and look forward to it though.

For those of us who have seen most/all episodes of TG and now GT those one off specials just stick out so much over many of the regular episodes.

I’m going to miss the studio, too. Every time the guys would go out in the world on an adventure the studio was always there, serving as an anchor. Like they always had a place to come home to. The audience and us were there to welcome them back and hear/see about all they’d done. However, I’d imagine that as they get older they want to spend more time with their families and on other pursuits.

However, as much as I’ll miss the environment I grew used to, I believe their new way of just doing the road trips is going to be way less work for them, which will hopefully mean they can keep it up for longer. They have the ratings, the blessings of Amazon (The Grand Tour is the majority first thing new subscribers watch after signing up for Prime) — so as long as Richard can keep himself on the road, James doesn’t smite Jeremy, and Jeremy doesn’t explode everything, I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Just finished the final episode and I certainly wasn't expecting that announcement. But when Jeremy started tearing up I knew it was for real. I've watched every episode of Top Gear (with the original 3) and every episode of The Grand Tour. They have been doing this since right around the time my wife and I were married and she loves it as much as I do. I think it was pretty classy of the BBC allowing them to use footage from their time at Top Gear. I'm going to miss the audience and in all honesty The Grand Tour never was able to capture that special feeling that Top Gear had. But after this season where it really seemed they were getting their feet underneath them... this bombshell hit. It's really sad in retrospect but I understand. At least we'll still get to see them doing their specials. We just won't see them every week anymore. I'll truly miss them. I truly miss the old Top Gear days but the Grand Tour was the next best thing that we were going to get. If Jeremy hadn't thrown that punch... Imagine where we would be right now? I suppose we'll never know. Anyway... It was a sad, unexpected end.

Honestly, I'm excited about the specials.
I'm glad they finally got rid of the celebrity segment, that sucked since season 1.
I will miss seeing the lap times, but that's about it.

We all know the specials are what we get excited about.

I’m still trying to figure out if they really stole “Nigel Mansell’s head”...

I was wondering if they had accidentally swapped the axles rear to front.

Finally got to watch the Mongolia special; John has got one hell of a front axle to not have broken a shaft with all of that hopping up mountains. Looks like it would be a fun kit to put together, though.

If I was responsible for building it, yes. And the cab would be under the frame, and it’d look like a giant spider car creature. The benefit of my build, however, would be having a solid roof. Unlike their vehicle.

So I've started watching The Reassembler in the evenings. I'm 1 season in and so far James has worn the same sweater in all 3 episodes, and looking ahead at the upcoming season, it looks like he's wearing the same plaid shirt in all of those, too
