Hey all, just received my custom 10 leaf pack. Each pack is labeled right and left, but no directional arrows.

The Dakars I have on now has directional arrows.

Anyone have experience with Alcan springs and install?

    Thanks

Post a pic of them. The forward spring eye is usually larger.

I see now. Yeah that looks like the way it installs.

Smaller eye connets to the shackle. Larger eye connects to the frame. Good luck and safe wheeling.

Ok, it appears that Alcan does not give a damn when it comes to QC. My leafs were shipped still with wet paint and there is runoff EVERYWHERE! One of the spring retainers is already falling out and to add to all of that, the pack is .115” narrower so it has good play in it.

Now I have to find shims for this Tacoma frame rot cover up paint job leaf packs. Wonderful.

Give them a call. I did a lot of research when I was getting new leafs and everything I saw about their customer service is it’s amazing.

    4 run, 2 don't
Is it really paint? Or grease/lubricant?

I ask because I'm about to order some leaf springs, and it seems a lot of companies ship these bare. They're coated before being shipped out to prevent rust, and it's disclosed that they'll arrive with cosmetic damage (which is normal).

They look pretty good to me though the sizing would be concerning. Interested to hear what they say when you call them.

Paint. It was squeezing out as I was tightening the ubolts. I got some grade 8 washers that fit in just right. One thing they seem to have forgot is to add more arch in the drivers side leaf to even out taco lean. I will go for a test drive and report back on the rest of it.

Yeah the paint situation made it seem like they rushed my order even though it took 5 weeks before shipping. I wouldn’t care about small blemishes but cmon. This is some Friday afternoon, get out the door, idgaf attitude. Already one of the spring clamps is loose and dangling off the drivers back.

I had a similar leaf pack. The stock bushing sleeves are a little wider. I just installed some stainless fender washers from fastenal so the ears wouldn’t pinch in on the bushings.

The paint is more of a temporary protective under-coating. The Deaver’s I have now have the same coating with runs. It will be more or less gone after a salty winter.

I really liked my Alcans; great ride. They’re on my buddies truck now, still going strong. Kept their arch too. Just do a couple initial retorques and another after your first off-road adventure.

I had OME Dakar EL095R and sold them for a set of 8 leaf Alcan springs. The Dakar had much better paint but the Alcan gives a nicer ride. I shot my Alcans with a coat of self etching primer and then some Rust-oleum semi gloss black and now they look fine.

Recently got the 5+1 pack from blackout14, shipped unpackaged as well with some fresh paint missing but from my research that's how all the companies ship them so I was expecting it. His customers service was great though and the springs are definitely top notch quality. Very happy. I almost went with alcan until I read up on blackout14s.

    This!
Careful @jp_flynavy dont over tighten the nut and or too thick washer. Can cause binding on the pivot and leak pack struggles to cycle smoothly.
