    Upgraded the ball joint on the SPC light racing ucas. The new style has a zerk fitting.

    The old ones haven never been greased, seemed ok but I am trying to locate a squeak and thought I would start here.
    Cotter pin was missing from the driver side but the castle nut was on tight.

    Bushings are in good condition so I just cleaned and regreased them.
    Had trouble with the 32 mm tip nut, soaked in liquid wrench and applied heat, next morning used an impact wench, came right off.

    Tried using the 32mm castle nut that came with the unit but because of the spindle gusset, it was too tall, so I used the old castle nut.


    Squeak is still there.

    I need you to take the truck for a week Nick ...lol

    No most likely not. Did you check the cap bolts on the struts with the new cap you put on there to make sure none loosened up? LBJ's ? Tierod ends? Maybe even squirt some oil in the bottom mounting bolt for the strutts. LCA bushings? Maybe time for a rebuild? Core support bushings?

    Core support was replaced icons rebuilt and squeaks were there before.
    My money is on lca, lower shock connection or armor not tight

    Lca bushings look ok but I am looking at a rebuild.

    Missing 2 bolts from the front skid plate. That's one squeak gone, lots more to go.

    I actually used the torque specs on the uca and it is creaking bad at the top end. Going to see if it will break-in or break

    I was just looking at replacement lbj and bushings. For $113 each I can get both and a lca from moog, assembled.

    Yes you have to reuse the oem bolts.

    The first gen had a lbj issue, none with the 2nd gen but I have almost 170k. Just trying to be proactive.

    So now 2 of the squeaks went away.

    We will see if it is rain related.

    Took out the isopro battery tender. It was acting up, not charging the second battery, almost like it thought it was a 6 volt. Then after not working during the trip, it started working on the way home.
    Ordered a redarc 12v isolator, it's an Australian company that just started a north American distribution. Difference is the alternator is connected to the main battery instead of the computer and the isolator charges the second battery from the first.

    Oh and I stole this idea from the softopper thread.
