I’ve always loved a nice colorful HID cutoff

Me too. Which is one reason why I’ll be ripping these XB headlights apart when the time comes. I Love the intensity and function of the DRL/Turn, but the low and head beam need a boost and will be swapped out with different projectors. Yes..I’m crazy :p

I’m so behind on retro technology and advances.... The last retro I had built was 10 years ago.

I apologize for the lame question but are LED the best performers these days? Is there still merit to traditional HID projectors?

My last retro was Lexus SC430 projectors that had a clear lens swap. They used to add washers to “color mod” the cutoff but my set didn’t have/need those (my TSX set before that did).

Thanks for any input. I was considering a “normal” HID retrofit but came across these and was trying to feel out if it was the best route.

Can I pay you to retrofit these when the time comes? :D

Morimoto has fogs for our trucks. However I've heard mixed reviews on it. I went with an LED drop in which is okay...but the beam isn't as clean and there is some light scatter. However I knew this would happen just like any drop-in bulb solution for reflector based lights.

    Eh??
No they are not. They are installed on my 4 runner with TRS adapter brackets.
I don’t even know what route I’m going yet. I’m thinking 3X morimoto mini 4.0 squares. Gonna be INSANE.

Thanks for Meso for doing this! At least for me, it help me decide to order the morimoto units. As much as I love retros (I've had retros done for 3 previous vehicles), there is also something to be said about a decent unit that is plug n play.

Do you have any more night shots of the lights on the truck (side view front view, etc)? I like the output but on the fence about the aesthetics.

I rather run better headlights at night (full function) than getting a light bar or rack lights I'll use 1 hour out of the year. Just cant get passed the crazy bright full DRL look, I'd like to stay away from looking too aftermarket (angel eyes, etc.). Function then form for me.

And thank you sir for posting all this. Very helpful.

Would you say the DRL is as good as the OEM?
