TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Well. Fuck.

Got the truck back, All fluids in the whole fuckin thing swapped out, everything looks fine, clutch replaced, rear diff replaced, rear wheel bearings replaced, have a gear grinding sounding sound coming from under the truck that we can't quite place, and it sounds baaaaaad. Pretty much sounds like the trans might have had some extra damage from when the clutch exploded. Looked into rebuilds, have basically been told by multiple shops to try to buy a sub-100k used 6 speed or see if I can get a deal on a reman. Have a site thats got a 74k used one out of a 2015 that wants like $1900 shipped to my door. Decisions Decisions.2 different quotes from other shops stating about $3k for a rebuild, but that's not counting any repairs that might have to be made if they break it open and find something else.

Going to swap out the drive shaft here in a few and see if that clears up any funny noises at all. At that point if it doesn't then its like 99% the transmission is bad. Thought perhaps the transfer case might be fucked up but he said the gear oil looked pristine inside it. And any particles that were in the transmission fluid would have been disregarded off the first change out because of the clutch failure.

 

and yeah yeah yeah I already know @Torspd is gonna be like "PERFECT TIME FOR A T56!" but I don't really have 7k+ to get that right now lol. Just trying to get the truck road worthy at this point and not have to worry about catastrophic failure on the road

I mean I've found a bunch online for anywhere from $1500-$2000 shipped depending on mileage and year. Most 2015s I've found are around $1700-$1900. Honestly just debating right now if I wanna try to do it myself or just drop it at a shop. Never dropped a transmission on this truck before, will need a transmission jack as well. Probably just drop it at a shop since my schedule is changing soon to 6 on 2 off, so I'm gonna be tired AF and not really want to deal with that haha.

I mean from URD its like $5k for the trans, plus another $2k or so for the adapter plate, after that, trying to get correct drive shaft lengths if thats needed, probably some sort of harness? I dunno, haven't looked into it very hard

Threw the truck back together. Took it out to get gas today. Sure missed it. Can’t wait to do some more modding when I have time. Finished polishing the inlet of supercharger. Kinda wanna take apart the blower and port and polish what I can.

Making Monday’s at the office better. The radiator and FJ shroud + cooling tank greeted me this morning, they arrived while I was out Friday.

 

If it is a built Magnum, ~$5k is the going cost.

 

Results are there to be had. Even on the ports to the lower plenum.
