62,000 mile (100,000 km) warranty is fairly common on tires, just not many truck tires.

Maybe but any tires i see that are nearing that kind of mileage are not in A condition i would have on my vehicle. Never leaving pavement certainly prolongs tire life.

Been going back and forth on 235/85/16 and 255/85/16 on my stock 16 DCSB OR. Feel free to correct me as Im fairly new to the tire game.

I like the idea of going 255 but I want to be able to run chains. Im guessing with how close it seems to be in the wheel well and with a few people having rubbing issues that it would be a no go. All depends on the year, but I do a bit of traveling in the mountains in the snow. We get a good amount of temps that ride along freezing, and Im often heading out or back early mornings or after dark when temps drop, so things that thawed out a little during the day start freezing up. Doesnt take much of an off camber on slick mountain roads and you can be in a real bad situation. I run into quite a few steep, off camber roads with little to no shoulder and some puckering drop offs. Id at least like to be able to run a light set up front and maybe a little heavier duty in the rear.

235 should give me a little more clearance on the inside of the tire and maybe clear a few more chain options or simply make it safer to run chains up front. Im also thinking of running a spacer.

Anyone have any experience running chains with either of these 2 options?
Any issues with stock suspension 255 w/spacer?

I wouldn't even attempt to run chains up front on 255/85R16. Chains would definitely snag the plastics on compression.

I don't really like any of the A/T or M/T options on icy roads, unless they're chained up on both ends of the vehicle. I have a dedicated set of studless tires for the winter. M/T type tires are not bad when it's just crunchy snow, but the winter tires are far and away superior to M/T and A/T tires on slick, icy surfaces. Chains on A/Ts would also be good, but you'd have to be strict about chaining up before you head out on those off camber icy roads.

Too bad they don’t make any skinny 35s. A 35x11.5 or 35x10.5 would be perfect.

The 85 aspect ratio is already huge. Even with these heavy E load range tires and reinforced sidewalls, the 85 aspect ratio feels very squishy in turns.

Getting to 35 inch outer diameter on 17 inch wheels would require something like a 255/90R17, which is still a huge aspect ratio. It might be feasible on 18s, but that's becoming a very esoteric size.

The 255/85R16 option is great because it's becoming more common and it fits directly on our stock trucks. I've been pleasantly surprised by the traction of my 255s on rocks, but if I was going any bigger I'd still want a wider tire to keep it more square.

Agreed! But it’s fun to dream lol.
I’ve actually had a great time with my 255/85/16, but every once in a while I wish I had a bit more clearance. I love the 285/75/17s, just wish they had something similar in a 35.. so maybe something like 285/85/17?

Originally had the 255/85r16 ST Maxx on the stock OR rims on my 2015 Tacoma for 15k miles with no rubbing or any issues. Recently bought a set of SCS Ray10s. Definitely changed the stance and looks of the truck which I love. Now just have to deal with rubbing issues I'm having with the offset of the Ray10s

    This and that...
Anybody thought of running 255/70/17's. Thinking of these for next set down the road with the Wildpeaks. Currently on 265/70/17's on stock rims. Would take off 5lbs per tire.

Nice. Any noticeable change from the previous size? Everything in the first post makes sense. Would be nice to shave a few pounds when taking road trips keeping the same clearance.

Also, no rubbing with that offset and tire size...?

Noticeable Noise at first. The Goodyear Duratracs are a more aggressive AT than the OEM Bridgestone Set. The wife mentioned it really hasn’t been an issue.

Yup, they dig pretty good. Too much at the sand drags, i run my beat km2s to get a little wheel speed and rpms up quicker. We are gonna run mudfest again this year so i'll use swampers there.
