a truck is a truck, as long as its running well, thats all you need it to do. mileage or whatever does not apply like a regular car. plus it has function.

I said the same thing about my '88 SR5 4x4, "maybe I should sell it...." I regret it that thought like that in 2003, however I currently have a 01 Prerunner with 298K......Heed the advice from what others have posted to inquiry. Regular maintenance, regular maintenance, regular maintenance...

With all of the cars I have owned, I have never worried about mileage. I never understood buying a vehicle, and not wanting to drive it because of adding miles. I could maybe see having some rare, vintage car/truck. Maybe.

Depends on your financial situation honestly. You could save a lot of money, but still be riding in an older car.

Personally, I am selling mines in a few more years because the safety futures in the newer cars are just so much better.

You begged the answers you've gotten...
BTW I heard the Chinese are buying older Tacomas and shipping them there.

So much truth in this post-especially about all the electronic driver assist crap they put in vehicles today. It drives me insane seeing the sales pitch about how it "keeps you safer"...While showing some knucklehead looking at his lap while he drifts into the other lane, or the parent turned around talking to the kids in the back seat or the guy daydreaming about everything else on his mind but driving...So basically you get to be a slackass, careless driver and endanger everyone around you-but don't worry, we'll let you know when your driving sucks so you don't have too! Ugh. And I won't even get started on all the safety crap they put in them now that gets recalled or CAUSES injuries during an accident that you very well may have been fine afterwards without.

    Could not agree more!
I bought a new 2nd vehicle last year for distance driving and opted out of the latest 2019 Tacoma.
I got a more comfortable and better road handling 2019 Ridgeline RTL (I am 62).
Its pretty comfortable and a pleasure to drive.
This RTL was the last year I guess they are making them without all the fancy safety electronics.
The fanciest thing it does is tire pressure info LOL.

Every once in a while I get some wild hair to consider a newer Tacoma, I do like the new body style, but then I remember how much "stuff" they put in new vehicles anymore and I just can't do it. I did look at the "build your Tacoma" site and it appears alot of the safety sense bs-maybe all of it-is in an electronics package bundled together so maybe you can get one without all the stuff. But the one thing I WOULD want-dual climate control, because my wife is Always colder than me-only comes with that package. No problem, haven't had any issue with my truck in the 13 years I've owned it and I've got a few things on it I like that I'd have to buy again with another vehicle. :)

My Ridgeline has that dual climate thing but its funky and does not always blow the temperature I want... unlike my 2003 Tacoma.
What I least want on these newer vehicles, and I know Tacomas dont have it, is that stop and start function that saves fuel by
turning off your engine at stops. Hate that!

Well there ya go, I'll just assume the dual climate control isn't as great as I would like it to be and I'm not missing anything! lol Also agree with the stop/start thing, just seems dumb to me-and a serious wear on the starter and electrical system.
