So I just had the TSS recall done on my truck. The recall includes a software update. How does this affect the tune? Do I need to reflash when I get home?

Try to do a read first and see what the revision # is. If it is the same as what you were on before going in, you *may* be ok. If in doubt just re-flash.

I've heard no, but when in doubt, reflash.

I would double check the ECU ID and if it’s different send the data to mat

I don't think this happened...but can anyone confirm? I've been monitoring pg1 post with this comment but I think it lapsed with the upcoming FM changes. Amiright?

It didn’t happen, as the third party developer didn’t deliver on time. First post will be updated when released.

I got the recall taken care of two days ago, felt different after (at least my mind thought it did). I ended up just reflashing. And surprisingly it felt better than before! I feel like them possibly clearing the learned values and reflashing definitely made a difference. Could also just be placebo:rofl:

Good thing I ran a 91 Performance tune. If the dealer reprograms it, it will be extremely obvious. Not to mention, the shift point is at 6800 rpm. That would be a dead giveaway. Ran about 200 miles since the flash, I am used to it now. 91 Performance does not bother me. When I'm cruising 70, I get like 20 mpg average. However, when I am myself, being the top 2% speeder on the road, I get about 14 mpg. :rofl:Gotta remind myself that I'm driving a Tacoma, not an AMG.

Just wondering, I've had 030 1.05 87 base since it came out. There's an update correct? I've update Flash manager so I believe I just go ahead and reflash the same 87 base tune, Its an update tune that will fix a few small problems. Thanks

I apologize if this has been asked already, but is there a "try before you buy" option? Perhaps a time limited tune?

I'm on the fence about whether to pony up for the tune...or put that money towards a different truck. It seems as though the level of satisfaction with these trucks in stock form varies greatly and I'm wondering if the tune...

1 - takes those that were satisfied and makes them happy with the truck?
2 - takes those that were already happy and makes them really love the truck?
3 - takes those that hate it and were ready to trade (this is where I am) and gets them to a level of good enough?

I don't necessarily want to spend $800 and just get to "meh". Has this tune really made people do a complete 180 or have most of you started in groups 1 or 2?

This is a great idea but i suspect the registration to the specific truck is the real stumbling block on making that happen. I would almost be easier to have a Tacoma Meet Up Event. Heck, any TW Taco Owner who lives around the Suffolk, VA area that wants to go for a passenger seat ride with my tuned truck is welcome to ask.

    That said, best mod ever!

Many agree the biggest problem with our Tacos is the gearing,if these trucks came from the factory with 4.88's the stock drive ability would be much better
and the peep's would not be searching for pedal commanders and OVtunes the way we do.However combining 4.88's with OVtune ($3500 or so later) and
you might have the perfect truck.

That's a budget I am having trouble finding but I agree. Here's to that $800 getting better with time just as Mat is saying with some of those upcoming tweaks!

No try b4 you buy option. There's no way to have the tune file itself "expire" (except maybe future updates, of course). Once you flash it, you've got it.
