I recently bought a 63” UWS toolbox to go on my 17 Tacoma and to be honest with you guys, I think a blind monkey could have done better on most of the welds in the toolbox. I looked them up on YouTube and saw where they were TIG welding, and assumed that there would be more TIG welded on the box than the corners on the lid, and the guard to protect the rod latch. All of the other welds besides that are mig welded, and awfully mig welded at that. I’m including a picture of the bracket on the right side that holds the gas shock. The bead stays on the bracket 75% of the weld, with very little weld actually being on both the bracket and the toolbox itself. I paid a pretty good price for what I was under the impression to be a premium box and I am very disappointed in what I received. I have contacted UWS and will post again with what their reply is about this situation.B44B0FCA-6AF8-4850-B8D1-CE583CD58E9F.jpg 02376C9F-0EE7-4D8A-997C-E4FFDDB448E2.jpg

When the original UWS was sold a number of years ago, the quality started to decline.

The original UWS was a business in a rural area of N Florida where the paper mill was the big employer and the VoTech had a great welding school. Many graduates got on at the mill, others chose UWS or a couple other industrial facilities in the area.

OP, I know it 'works', but for that kind of $, I'd not be happy either. Good luck with resolution.

Bought a UWS 63" toolbox a few months ago and the welds don't look anything like yours. Sorry, but yours must have been made by a FNG's first day at work with a hangover.

Honestly I haven't welded since Jr. High and my welds back then were better than this.

I also didn’t mention that the lid of the box is sitting on it crooked, on the right side of the box, between the box and the lid, I can get my fingertip between them at the front corner, where as I can get up to my whole first knuckle because of the gap between the box and the lid at the rear corner 264C695D-D79F-47F6-81AE-8277E5D8AE47.jpg9BFDD7B5-E6A8-4E7C-8FF7-5BCC0299F7DD.jpg

That sucks. My cat welds better.
At least an American human did it instead of a Chinese robot though.

Those are bad welds period. I’m sure they’ll hold fine for what they are, but for he money I would be a little cranky too.

I’ve only seen good things posted about these UWS boxes on the forum though, it’d be worth contacting them to try and resolve the issue if you haven’t already. I would have bought one if I could have found someone selling them in Canada. They are always the first suggestion from members on here when someone posts looking to a box.

No, the USA sadly. That’s one reason I chose this toolbox over others

Wow, that's sad. Someone was stoned out of their mind on that day at work. Return that POS and try again. Good luck OP.

Sorry, but had to laugh at those welds. Looks like my work when forced to weld something. Of course, I'd never charge anyone for my level of work.

That’s certified blind monkey shit. I’ve looked at their tool boxes I’ll have to look more closely

When you can see the mistakes right in the finish it’s bad. Here’s what it should look like
