The ones without are like my truck and have the single box under the stereo that also senses inertia but much less sensitively. It's pretty hard to make that thing go off

 

Airbags freak me out so I'm not picky about the bumper being dot approved or not. I'm sure I'd appreciate one saving my life in a high speed crash but the thought of one going off in a small low speed incident...no thanks.

 

Yeah funny how you rolled over and they didn’t go off.

I know they don’t usually go off in a rollover, but you’d think the inertial difference would be enough to set them off.

I think @Empty_Lord was the one who bought a Class IV receiver for his truck? It’s rated for I think for up to 14,000 pounds which the Tacoma can only dream of towing.

Nope, but I need a good excuse to buy a welder and learn. I have a couple guys out here that have welded stuff for me though that could do it

 

Youtube taught me to mig weld. I learned back before youtube welders were pushing so much sponsored bs on viewers though. Now I cant stand watching that crap. Maybe @Jamesboy2233 can relate.

 

If you buy a mig welder you'll have it together in a weekend. It's like a hot glue gun for metal, just fight every urge you have initially and SLOW THE FUCK DOWN and you'll be welding like a pro in no time

 

I thought I was okay at welding till I tried welding that bumper together. I hit the inside with a “bead” and it was the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

That’s why I got rid of the Lincoln, couldn’t do 3/16th steel. Then I got the Miller which I’m still learning the ropes on.

I put the wrong plug on it too. I had to use an obsolete dryer plug NEMA 10-30R to match my air compressor. It calls for a think a NEMA 10-60? A whole 30 Amps higher than what it’s getting.

 

Thats funny cause on my first day on the job, my coworkers were telling me the opposite lol. I got so good at going at a snails pace that I had to re-teach myself to weld fast.

 

You're the only one who wasn't gas welding that ever did that haha. Good problem to have though

 

I wouldn't worry about beads looking 'pro' so long as they're strong. Once you clean them up and paint 'em who's really going to be eyeballing the welds on your bumper to see how badass they are, furthermore who cares lol.

 

At any rate Relentless bumper or not, when I do get a bumper it'll be a DIY kit. I need to get started on welding

 

If you do get a relentless I'd beef the bulkhead and winch plate with a piece of 1/4, they bend a tad easily.

Yup, Chuck used to be good. Now he doesnt even do welding vids right? Just him dumping money into tractors that belong in the scrap yard. Couldve bought 3 new Kubotas with all the money hes sank into his moneypits. Thats how you know hes not a real farmer and makes his money solely off youtube.

Even welding tips and tricks to an extent though. Jody is full of knowledge, but he does like to advertise his brand too.

Although, Jimbos Garage has to be the worst. Every other word out of his mouth is preaching about how great HTP or some other company is.
