It touches my leg because I had to bend it outboard that far to clear 2nd gear.

Can you just break your leg and reset it to clear the shifter then?

I just take the shift knob off the shifter closest to my leg while wheeling so it clears evreything.

It’s not the knob that’s the issue. It’s the shifter itself. I’ll figure something out.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
More bending. Bend everything. Then cut some stuff. Then bend some more.

    I think that's the process.

Yep. That was the process. Except you have to take all the linkage apart every time you make a change. Then heat it up. Then let it cool. Then put it all back together. Then find out you didn't bend it enough. Then repeat the whole process just to bend it too much. Next thing you know, you have spent 4 hours fiddlefucking with shifters.

That, in a nutshell, has been the crawlbox install theme. Geoff said it best. There's really nothing hard about any of this. Just extremely time consuming and aggravating.

Yea getting it physically in the truck is the easy part, it's all the fucking around and "tuning it" that takes forever. Wait until you SAS it!

Yup shifters are easily THE most time consuming part of the whole install. PIA trying to get thm to line up without hitting each other and making sure they fully engage.

Amen to that. This is their final resting place. Now to rebuild this gaping hole in my floor. Do you have any pics of what you did there?

I picked up some sheet metal from an ace hardware and smashed it with a hammer over a brick until it was the right shape. Wish I had a picture, but then again if you made it this far you should be able to figure it out!

What did you end up doing for the breather for the cases?

I'll see if I can find some pics or see if I can take a few in a couple days. Basically I made an access panel where the rear position of the shifters (on top of the rear chain case) with some aluminum and nutserts. That way all that I needed to cover up would be covered by carpet, sounddeadners, and the plastic console.

**Edit** and some 1/8" rubber gasket I used to cut out to seal around the whole area after I used nutserts and bolted the rubber shifter boot ring to it.

Nothing yet. Going to get the floor mocked up, then take it all back apart to Put gasket maker under my shifter bases, locktite linkage hardware, and run breathers.

    Nice!

I used some plastic expandable nutserts for my triple stick shifter base, I have to top fill my cases through the crawler shifter (on the mini truck style cases the crawler and transfer case share fluid) and this was the best way to do it. I recommend doing some sort of a nutsert either plastic or metal because self taping sheet metal screwing the shifter on is halfass and the way I did it for waaay too long and it never fit quite right.

Made a quick template out of some super thin aluminum I had. Will make a final one out of a larger thicker piece I have. Needs to come down further on each side of the tunnel. Run some self rappers through it and a bead of that sealant underneath and call it a day?74CC2087-3C36-4B19-AB05-024A232CDDAF.jpg

For my breather I screwed a brass hose barb into that threaded hole you see by the shifter base by the trans adapter and ran a hose up to the engine bay. As for the rear case when it was with the chain drive, I ran the hose from the factory nipple and zip tied along the same hose up into the engine bay as well.
