I was out the other day test driving the 19 Tacoma off road. I went to two different dealers to see if there might be some noticeable difference between this model truck.
I absolutely love the look of the Tacomas especially the 5 ft box model. Unfortunately the TRD Sport only comes in manual with the short box. WHY?
After test driving both off roads I found no difference between the two. They were both surprisingly sluggish in a big way. I was kind of shocked at the seating position as well. It felt like I was driving a much larger truck with the low windshield and view over the hood.
I'm still going to test drive more Tacomas and hope I can get comfortable with the lack of torgue and sort of poor ergonomics.
Not trying to bash this truck but after being quoted over 50K for 19 Off road I was hoping for a better feeling truck.
Even though you cant compare a full size truck to a mid size, my pro 4 x Titan felt way better ergonomically. Especially the view from seat out the windshield. I still hope to love this truck more and I was wondering anyone else has gotten through the Low torgue curve and seating position curve to love their tacomas? I have owned all brands and styles of trucks except for Rams so I'm very familiar with most drives.ive always wanted a Tacoma but so far I'm a little disappointed. Help me love this beautiful truck more.

Well. That's the kind of response I would expect from brain washed brand loyal people .Folks, Vehicles are the biggest liability you will ever purchase. I had some reservations after my first couple test drives but I haven't given up on this truck. its track record for reliability seems to be more then apparent and it is the best looking truck in its class.
No, I would not own a Jeep or a Ridgeline.

I don't know...the Gladiator looks pretty sweet. Ah, just get a low mileage 2nd gen and call it good.

The trd sport does not only come in a manual with the short bed, they come in autos with access cabs, 4x4s, ect

To be fair to everyone on TW, It's annoying when people join this forum just to complain about the newer trucks lack of power. There are thousands of people who own them and we all get it the shifting is not perfect, coming from a full size to a tacoma is not going to do you any favors. These trucks are proven to be reliable and capable, and they're one of the best selling trucks in the US so clearly they aren't that bad.

Keep in mind this forum is for "enthusiasts" so the vast majority of people on here like tacomas which is the point of this whole forum. The truck isn't going to change, I suggest you get an f-150 and call it a day

Ok Thanks, Unfortunately I don't care much for the F150, Maybe I will look at a 2015 used one then.

If the power/transmission is the issue then you won't ever like it

That's usually the deal breaker for everyone on the fence

Theres no lack of torque where you need it, the tip in just sucks so you need to give more throttle input than what you're used to
