1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Hondas really do run forever but the civic and prelude I've owned both had leaks. They were flips so I didn't fix them, but seems not uncommon for Honda to have a small leak lol

 

Had to ask because there was a turd gen thread about that the other day, dude's filter came off and boom

 

Her leaks are so bad I don't know how it still runs day to day, she must be putting more oil in it at least once or twice a day.

I just don't get how people let their shit get like that and take forever to do something about it, our driveway looks terrible from all that oil. But I'm responsible for *some* of that so I can't complain too much lol

Yeah that would suck. I checked before installing the new filter. Last owner installed the wrong size filter too. The part number i for from the form and oriley was a different filter then what was on the van. But the gaskets were the same diameter and the thread pitch was the same so idk

 

My truck came with it so I have no idea what it feels like to take the filter off at the stock location. Well I take that back. I do know what it feels like as I had to remove the adapter to redo it all, I should say I have no idea what kind of mess it makes with the filter in the stock location.

This is what it looked like before I reconfigured it.

I use 6.5 qts for an oil change. How much it takes normally?

I use that same filter mine holds 6 qts

 

5.5 lol. That's a lot of oil for the filter setup

 

The 3.4l is 5.5qts maybe closer to 6 including the filter

 

I figured it wouldn't hold that much more & 1/2 qt is not much more anyway. I wish it wasn't 6.5 qts so I wouldn't have to buy 7 qts every other oil change. Costco Mobil 1 cases come in 6 qts.

 

I always use 6 per change but .25 i kinda pour through with the drain plug out just to flush some dirty oil out.so really its like 5.75 i use

Eh? Your numbers don't add up but that's a waste doing that anyway. Not gonna make much of a difference really. If you want to flush some dirty oil out, stick the garden hose in the filler & rinse it out for a bit.
