I can see the money and time put in that truck but because it is worth 82k to him doesn't mean anyone will purchase it for anywhere near that price.

 

He may have better luck if he could find a regular bed to put back on the truck and then sell the truck separate from the flatbed/camper. I’m sure there would be lots of interest in each.

 

Good to see a price finally... I was interested when he first mentioned selling it, but finally gave up after all the secrecy surrounding the price (even through DMs).

Ended up with a 3rd gen and a GFC, which I swapped out for a Four Wheel Camper after a season.

 

There was a Ram 3500 with a similar setup listed for 125k last week. If people are buying these at these prices there's money to be made building and selling.

 

People are not buying at these prices. This Tacoma has been for sale for at least 6 months

 

Return it back to a relative stock truck and part out.

Hmmm debating on selling my Marlin 1895 SBL to move on to other things. Any interest? The glass (Leupold FX-II 2.5x28 scout scope) would be extra. Some very faint scuffs on the action from trekking around in the bush with it.

That is a lot for a truck.

In his defense, people spend that much on sprinter vans (which are totally overpriced), and they aren't nearly as capable. This truck is probably close to even when comparing comfort. I'd rather take the taco over a van.... But I might be biased

I agree. To put 130K into the truck is pretty intense if you're going to try and flip it in 4 years. Now he has to compete with the Van Life crowd. Obviously his is incredibly more capable, but how many skilled drivers are out there to utilize it the way it was intended. Some of these van build outs are pretty amazing and top of the line brand new for about 80K. Granted its no Tacoma, but damn they're sweet...

I built and traveled in this for a couple years thinking, since I got everything at a really good price and put TONS of work into it (400 hours?), I would at least get my money back out of it after getting to use it. I did not. I lost my ass. Unless you've got a reputable shop and a sought after name, building stuff will only ever be a hobby for me from now on.

Maybe. I’ve had it for 3 years, it was over 300 when I bought it new.
It’s got Bluetooth, pandora, hd radio, cd drive, front and rear usb, aux input, and being an excelon unit there are a lot of settings on how it processes sound.
