Sounds like the kind of cops we need more of. Sadly, here in Greene County VA the Sherriff's are too busy snagging people passing through for doing 6 over or running a yellow light. All in the name of helping their poor county. Same in the city of Hopewell VA, they own a mile of interstate 295 and have 2-4 of their officers at all times snagging people. I received a ticket for 7mph over.
My dad was a Sherriff back in the say and said he wouldn't write a ticket for anything less than 20mph over. Surprises me considering how anal he is but he said it prevented people from arguing with him.

I prefer warm white light, as opposed to the cool white. Noticed in some pics it looks warmer than others, can anyone confirm if there is a warm white option?

They are too bright for my back up camera...im gonna either find way to dull them down, or go back to the stock ones and replace the bulbs

Thanks for this I read this whole thread trying to figure out if I should buy them but if there to bright for the back up cam there is no point. Let me know what you plan on doing to dull the light down.

You could pop the lens out and use some spray on tint possibly

You could try to dim it down using resistors.
There is going to be a range of the LEDs max and min. Say 3volts and below that won't work and max of 36volt before you fry it (those are just tossed out numbers)
So at 12.8volt your getting the brightness you currently have, try dropping to say 9volt or 7.2volt.
Test using an RC battery or something before just buying resistors.
    Just an idea.

I bought these and was stoked to get them on. After a few days of rain I had a window yesterday to install. The drivers side light is still fighting me and I cannot get the nut off. I'll tackle that one another day. I went to the passenger side and got that one off ok. But..........

I did not think that there would be an issue installing because the stock lights were still on the truck even though I have a Fab Fours bumper which they are mounted on. I was wrong. The dimensions of things are a bit off and make it impossible to mount unless you mod. Here is my attempt at explaining what needed to be done to compensate for the thicker metal and absent slot.

The tab that slides under the bumper is MUCH smaller than the stock one. Thus, the VIPMOTOZ will not fit over the much thicker material that the Fab Fours bumper uses. I took the part to my band saw to see if I could make it larger to fix the issue. Nervously I made the cut which went a lot less painful than I thought it might be. About two blade widths did the trick.

    1.jpg

Looks a but rough and the bottom was still a little problem with fit so I was able to remedy that with a few swipes of a file.
    3.jpg

    5.jpg

I went ahead and tried to install but there was still a clearance issue. Took me a second to figure it out but I noticed that the new light had a rib that the stock light did not have. That stock lights rib was taken into account on the Fab Fours bumper which had a slot where that would go. It did not however have the sister slot needed to allow the new light to be able to fit. (of course now I notice this little gem is already covered in the original post!! I dislike my brain)

    6.jpg

So I took my knife out and sliced a piece off which appeared to work well. The part fit, but just not deep enough. I then had to take a pair of snips to remove the plastic underneath that rib which was also causing interference with the bumper.

    8.jpg

    IMG_0007.jpg

Once that was done it was almost ready but there was still some clearance issues. I decided that it was the plastic of the housing that needed to be trimmed so I carefully started pecking away at it with my knife. I don't have an after pic of this but this is the flat area that I trimmed wherever I could get at it. Just adding a deep chamfer gave me the clearance needed.

    200A.jpg

And the end result. Apparently I have lost one of the rubber boots for these during the original vehicle build. Anyone know where I can get them?

I was waiting for people to tell me that. I can never do this type of thing easily. And admittedly sometimes I seem to create problems that aren't there. And I was so proud of myself too!!!

But, you can definitely see the thickness of the bumper being an issue when you look at the image. Unless there was another Tacoma option that I missed when purchasing the lights.

@Tac-Tacoma jeesh. guess we know atleast that they WILL fit an aftermarket bumper that was designed for the factory light, with a little elbow grease. I did address the tab removal issue though in my original post. Apparently you can use these on multiple toyota vehicles, I wonder if some of them actually have two tab slots on the bumpers...

Probably will have to go to the stealership for the gasket though.

Yeah, I totally missed your info until after I posted this and mod'd my post to admit that. All is good. Thanks for spending my money, I would not have bought these without finding your post. I do really like them though!
