Unfortunately no DCLB M/T option. If there was, I'd have it!

DCSB M/T in OR/Sport/Pro, or ACLB M/T in Sport only AFAIK. I have the Canadian unicorn. :D

Maybe the ACLB in M/T and Sport is the way to go then. I sell the 17" wheels and replace with 16", remove the lower faring and live with the silly hood until I find someone who wants to trade...:)

More and more it seems OVtune and MT is the only way to safely run my camper setup.

Are you looking to buy new?

Toyota DID improve the M/T calibration along the way, it just took them a LONG time to do it. Later 18's and all 19's came with the improved tune, and even if you buy a used 16 or 17 it can be updated (I did this myself).

I'd try the OEM calibration in all honesty, before buying OVtune. Also, the clutch engagement feels a bit off (delay between what your left foot is doing and what the slave cylinder is doing). There is a simple fix for that too!
The 3rd gen M/T crowd will help you out.

    Cheers and good luck.

I test drove the 6 MT last week and I agree with clutch engagement although I did like how little pedal input it required, my URD stage 3 clutch is a beast to push in. I'm afraid even in the 2019 with what I assumed is an updated calibration it was still falling a bit short. Most who drive the MT say the tune makes a big difference in even that platform although the year might have to do with it, I should go back and look for later model reviews.

I am looking to buy new because break-in and overall driving habits play a big role in the long term life of an engine. Also, with the 2020's coming out with new tech, I expect to see some pretty good dealer incentives on the 2019's in the Fall so used might only see a marginal savings.

The ZR2 diesel is an awesome truck. I bought an '18 brand new and really had no complaints or problems with it. It rides tremendously on the highway and the 6 speed automatic is much better than the 8 speed automatic Chevy pairs to the gas engine. If you want an automatic mid-sized truck, you cannot go wrong with the ZR2 diesel. I switch to the Pro because I really wanted a manual and I love the Pro more than the ZR2 . The manual experience and the interior on the Tacoma makes it a better truck IMO.

PS: I have never driven the 3rd Gen Tacoma in an automatic or the gas version of the ZR2.

100 % agree with this. I had a 16 z71 diesel Colorado but would much prefer the Tacoma due to interior and other options but the zr2 diesel would be nice too

OV tune is a computer program? Why do you need it? Right now I have a little over a thousand miles on my truck, no complaints other then having to slam my door. There is no way to get out and close my door in Ninja mode. I do not know if there is a fix for this. I may try spraying the door with some lube.

I'd encourage you to read the posts of others in this thread and what they are saying, lots of reasons for others to need it. In my case always having +1,000 or more pounds of load in a work truck that needs to stay a small but powerful form factor.

I'd say keep shutting it softly. I trained myself to slam it, and now that the deals are a little softer, it slams pretty hard now.

If they offered a 6MT in that diesel I may be tempted.

I would. That way you don't have to retrain yourself again.

I’d say at 5000 miles it improves some, but still no torque down low with this motor, so even better shifting doesn’t make up for that. 6th is useless under 72 in my opinion.

False, I had the TSB done today at 5000 mile service and it’s night and day difference shifting. It drives like it should without the crazy downshifting and then upshifting at any sign of a hill.
