Synovus bank has a 1.8% money market account you can get if you have any of those banks around you.

Also with the stuff in Venezuela I bet itll be a rough few weeks coming up for stocks.

could you imagine if googles gaming platform takes over. Its best chance of making it though is on how well 5G works and how fast they can get it out. There's a lot of places even in the U.S. that can't get decent wired internet. I can only pull 400mbs down and 25mbs up in non peak hours and in peak hours 330mbs down and 20mbs up.

Not sure those "yields" are actual returns though. It looks from the prospectus like it's more like 1.5% at most. Maybe I'm wrong. Either way I have a chunk of money in there that is waiting for a dip to buy into.

Looks like GE is up a dollar. Really wishing I would have pulled the trigger on more back when it was at $9.35

It's not so much that the money going into the IRA is pre-tax off of your paycheck but the money deposited to that account is tax deductible at the end of the year. If you are contributing to a traditional IRA and want to lessen the month to month tax hit you can always adjust your W-4 withholding to account for the extra deductions you will be getting later.

I personally just use a Roth IRA because I already have a decent amount of pre-tax money going to my 401k and would like to have a second bucket of money to pull from that I don't have to worry about getting taxed on.

Fed leaves rates unchanged, Dow, SP500 and Nasdaq all take a nosedive. Wtf? I guess now the market wants rate cuts.

I've made 12% on SNE and I'm thinking it's time to sell. I cannot find anything on why it should go higher or lower really. So as of now I'm just playing a game of chance..

anyone else watching SNE who may have read something?

That's how I feel about UWT. Every time oil starts rising, Trump tweets about it and it goes back down. His threshold is right around $65 a barrel for WTI lol

That’s funny:) I hear that term a bit from pundits and it Seems to me like the stock market has this large component that acts like a (consumer confidence) element. Just minute by minute - day by day gyrations instead of quarterly. Is it just the emotional investors/ amateur that is so reactionary?- because if the Fed say it would cut rates I think the market just as likely it would have jumped meaning I think the term “pricing it in” is a little over used

Now I will admit I still very amateur at this but I just see markets moves that make no sense. This is why I like real estate property-

Edit- funny thing I am watching:
Disney stock tanking with nothing but great news on the horizon for revenue generation

My Southwest stock dips and just keeps ticking up and it has 34 aircraft that are grounded and will stay grounded during the busy summer season losing revenue

I think it's nuts that people expected a rate cut yesterday, and then the market tanked on not getting it. There is no way I would have expected a cut, it was nice to hear there wasn't going to be any hikes on the near horizon though.

I think we live in a different time now. Since there are no longer many traditional pensions, and Social Security is always in jeopardy, now everyone is expecting to retire on a 401k. To me, this means that we will have artificially inflated markets forever. Imagine if a Great Depression like crash happened, AND everyone's retirement depended on the stock market. I think we'd see the zombie apocalypse in the streets. A whole lot of people would be screwed. I expect a lot of Fed. manipulation of markets to keep that from happening.

If your within 5-10 years of retirement it would be a better idea to move the majority of your 401k into something less volatile than stocks.

I think that may be true for some (or most), but not everyone. Example, if you live off of dividends and make a lot more than you need, why would you leave equities?

I just argue against a lot of the one-size-fits-all advice that I see so much on investing. I don't think one person can possibly tell another person any advice without knowing their whole situation (other passive income, health care expenses, living expenses, etc).
