I just had the recall completed on my 2018 OR. They applied they foam tape and did the software update. Surprisingly, it took almost 2 hours to finish the job.
I am running 265/75s on 2”/1” lift and had no pushback at all getting it completed.

Went in last Friday for a Toyota Care service.

Advisor noted the recall and said they would not perform it due to mild lift and pro grill. I protested lightly, but honestly didn't give a shit.

Went I went to pick up the truck the adviser said that they had ordered parts for the recall and asked if next Friday worked to bring it in to have them installed.

When I asked what happened, the adviser said that Toyota had instructed them to perform the recall and gave them directions on how to perform it. The exact quote was "Toyota is rolling out a fix for modified vehicles. This is the first one we'll be doing."

Truck goes back in on Friday. We'll see.

Called in today to schedule an appt. They said they would order the parts that may be needed and then call back to schedule once they get those. They did ask if it was stock which it is. I have a 2019 SR5; build date 10/2018 in Texas. Sensor (88210-04010) has the F sticker without the 3 vent holes. I did notice it disable the PCS and DRCC once when driving in the rain but was fine the next morning. It has not unexpectedly applied the brakes.

Just dropped mine off for this along with a few other things. One of the first questions i was asked was if my truck was completely stock. Tires, grill, ride height, everything. Apparently my dealer has been turning people away with taller tires (even if not lifted he said). He said this is all per Toyota and not their choice. Good thing mine is still stock in those areas. 12/2017 build 2018 SR5.

Same part# - but looks like the latest/new ones come with the three small vent holes on the back.

They put the stupid foam on my truck. I don't think the foam will last the life of the truck as it should. Replacing a bad radar is not cheap. I wish Toyota Corp. would realize that the band aid fix will not last and ultimately will fail again - probably out of warranty. They SHOULD be replacing the defective units with the ones with the vent holes like yours came with!

I agree. But only time will tell if those three tiny vent holes will fix the problem. Won't know until these are in the field for a year or more. So, we're kinda beta testing for Toyota.

What a joke and waste of part of my day ha Good thing i can work from wherever i am at. A piece of 20 cent sticky back foam. That wire in the top left causes the foam to stick out and feed water right on down to the sensor.. oh well it’s done now.

They also couldn’t duplicate my brake shudder which I find very hard to believe. However, they did put some miles on it so they did try. I will make a tech drive with me come my next Toyota care mid summer.

Yeah I took off my Pro grill and put on my stock grill for this bullshit!? Now putting it back is just going be a waste of time. I had asked for the new sensor too. But it looks like the old one stayed put

Totally confused, I ‘m bringing my Taco for 5K service and sensor recall.. Dealer is scheduled to lift my truck during same day service.. I guess it’s at dealer’s discretion?

I just had mine done yesterday. Dealer balked at my 265/70-17 with Sema’s and my light bar. I said no problem and told them I was going to question to Toyota Corp. why a dealer denying my safety recall can sell lifted truck as new with 285/75/16’s.
Recall was taken care of with no more questions.

Posted this in the other thread about this as well, but FYI:

I just got back from having my 10k done at the dealer (Sunnyvale Toyota in California). I asked them specifically NOT to try and do the recall, since I knew they wouldn't (per this board) and would just end up keeping my truck all day to tell me no... which is exactly what happened. They tried to do the recall work anyway and ended up rejecting it because of the grill specifically. Ok, fine. But it goes on to say something else that I have not heard yet in these threads. Full text:

KOB RECALL CANNOT BE PERFORMED AT THIS TIME BECAUSE IT HAS A MODIFIED TRD GRILL WHICH REQUIRES KOB RECALL TO BE PERFORMED UNDER NEW UPDATE THAT REQUIRES CUSTOMER SIGNATURE AND PCS TO BE TURNED OFF AND A NEW LABEL TO BE ADDED TO THE DASHBOARD

WE CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE THE LABEL AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

CUSTOMER HAS BEEN INFORM END THEY WOULD HAVE TO PUT BACK TO ORIGINAL TO DO RECALL

I forgot to switch grilles when I brought it in so they refused to complete recall. I wasn’t upset because with the fake Pro grille I don’t get those false brake warnings anymore. They did update the transmission software though

That's what pisses me off ,there is no consistency from one dealership to another.Toyota Corp seems like they are very disorganized on this issue, they look like a bunch of clowns to me,guess I'll just wait it out and hope they come to their senses.
To all once again- please call Toyota Corp @ 800-331-4331 and voice your opinions
    Thanks to you all

Toyota turned off the ability to order a pro grille. They didn't want people replacing it. From a business standpoint, how would you manage the thousands of people who altered a vehicle against their recommendation? It's a sensor with major implications. Based on the many posts on this forum I've read over the past two years on how many different ways people have made pro grilles work would be a logistical nightmare from recall process. I kept mine stock for this exact reason.

4 PM in nc. Dealer just called me and said to come next Saturday. Toyota released the recall to modified trucks at 8:30 last night. So we shall see. Hopefully no other problems arise:fingerscrossed:
