I replaced my driver's side cv axle over the weekend. It's had a slightly tear in the outer boot for a while. The job took longer than I thought it would since it was my first experience with a cv axle replacement. Getting the old one out was easy. Putting the new one in was a b*tch. Glad I finally did it, though. I've been having weird vibrations & humming sounds coming from the front drivers side area, along with a pulsing sensation when braking. It's all gone away since replacing the cv.

Here's a discussion of tire sizes and all the things that affect fitment on a first gen: What size tires fit my Tacoma?

I used this bearing, seems to work great and pressed in easily.

6301-2NSE9 NACHI bearing 6301-2NSE seals 6301-2RS bearings 6301 RS Japan

Finally some boiler plate haha, I got tired of answering this question and felt bad about copying and pasting previous responses so I just stopped answering.

I needed a break from computering. So I got out some rubbing compound and tried it on my collection of scratches.

Silly me, I'm gonna need paint.

Is this buckle tight on your guy’s trucks? Mine has a lot of play in it, and I can’t tighten the nut anymore.

Maybe try a lock washer for some added tension?

Mine's the same way on the driver's side. Kind of freaks me out but I might try @Blue92 's suggestion.

I added a big fender washer, if I tighten it to spec (32 ft/lbs) it won’t adjust anymore. I tightened it to spec, and backed off a little until it was loose enough to move.

I see you went with a double din. I only went single din cause I think the stereo sits too low in the dash to really use for navigation, cameras etc. That and the 5 speed shifter would get in the way.

I do like the one we put in my dads 2nd gen though. But not having a volume knob like the one you got would bug the piss outta me. Otherwise it looks like a good unit.

Touchscreen heads are pointless on these trucks IMO for that exact reason, the only reason I didn’t go single DIN is because I use it for the backup camera display.

I’d go for the integrated screen on the Gentex mirror, but the config I want with HomeLink, Temp, and Autodim are almost $1,000.

Single makes the a perfect spot of a radio, and you could fit a switch maybe two if you put it all the way on either side
