I’m keeping my stock gears. The kit was a better choice for me

Why does there seem to be so much hate from the guys that don’t have 4.88’s when you mention it in other threads?

Is it hate because they don’t understand that 4.88’s isn’t that big of a jump from stock gears for the autos, or do they actually have a point? I mean I’m only running 32” tires and max 3-400lbs of armor.

Am I making a mistake putting 4.88’s in still wanting to maintain good mpgs yet not have the engine scream in 3rd or 4th going up a hill at 4K+ rpms?

    Not much stock left.
No hate here, and absolutely no regrets with the 4.88’s.

You think I’ll be good even with 265/70/17’s?
What size tires are you running?

    Won’t kill my mpgs?

I’m running 285/75/17’s. I get about 15 mpg and can get up to 16 mpg with a strong tail wind, but I have a ton of armor, steel bumpers, RTT. A ton of added weight.

What you can expect depends on your driving and the weight your carrying. I don’t think you would see a significant drop.

Just got my truck back Friday. So far I’m loving it. 255/80/17 59 lb Cooper ST/Maxx. I’ll update with tank totals later this week.

With the gears and tune, I've been driving pretty free-spirited so my MPG dropped (because of my driving style) The truck just feels like a sports truck now and it's so fun to drive!

So I just picked up some used Yukon 4.88s from a dude online, and am getting ready to order rebuild/master installation kits.

My question is, would it be ok to order the nitro master install kits or should I dive deeper into the web and find a Yukon kit?

Tried looking, but didn’t find a post talking about this. Thanks for any tips!

Install lots are going to be pretty much the same from each company. Go with which everyone you want
