Few Questions

Hello all:

I did a few searches and have been reading a lot of posts but I am still a little fuzzy on a few things on my 19' Sport.

1. It has "reactive" cruise control. Is there a way to use the cruise control without the radar? I really do not like how it controls the truck. I looked in the manual but can't find anything.

2. I have seen a lot of posts and articles on bed stiffeners. Are the needed to prevent future problems or has the problem been corrected by the factory?

3. I have been looking for a set of running boards and really like the look and how these are made: https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/steelcraft-4-inch-blackout-series-oval-nerf-bars Does anyone have any feedback on them?

1. You can turn it off with steering wheel controls through one of the gauge menu options.

2. That’s only really needed if you do medium grade+ off-roading.

3. If you are just looking for nerf bars, it’s all the same, just pick the one that looks good to you. Know that it won’t offer you any protection other than door dings

 

P. 266 of the manual explains how to put it in constant speed control.

 

Not all side steps/nerf bars are the same. Some are tucked so close to the undercarriage you can't get your foot on them. Just something to be aware of.

So from the look of it I have to turn the radar off every time: it isn't a once and done type of thing?

The bars I linked are 5" that appear to stick out on the Tacomas. I am hoping to protect the doors a little and also get my old butt in there easier.

I have the OEM oval bars that look similar to the ones you are considering, and mine don't help much in terms of climbing in. They are pinched in so tight that the toes of my boots can't get a good grip. The Steelcraft you linked to look like they stick out enough to serve your purposes. I'd get the dimensions and then put a box or step to replicate the height and offset before ordering. Better yet, find someone who has 'em on their Tacoma.

 

You are right, it is not a one and done type thing. It will return to default (radar on) every time you turn off the truck. I read this just yesterday for mine. No way around this to my knowledge.

 

Like the oem ones! Is it worth getting brackets customized to work or just buy new ones?
