I hate these garage door openers with a passion. Pretty sure they can hear me open my garage from the International Space Station. :annoyed:

My parents have a similar old noisy boxy garage door opener that is going on 30+ years, and I think there is something to be said for equipment that lasts that long and gets used daily... However, I do greatly appreciate the newer quiet openers when living space is above/adjacent to the garage.

My luck would be that I replace it and then have to replace the new one 1 week after the mfg warranty expires. :spending:

Replaced our cracked septic lid with a new one. $40 for a new precast lid from the local concrete yard.

Collars and caps...only way to go. No more digging up the lids every 4 years, just slide the cover/cap off (or better yet the septic sucker dude does it). TOFTS (too old for that shit).

I even drilled out the top and put a fitting to dump my rv tanks in the septic.

Yup, it was the cap that slides on and off. It was cracked when we bought the house and has chunks missing now so it was time to fix it.

I had one of those too. It is indeed a noisy beast. And mine had lousy range on the remote.

You may be (and probably are) right. Like I said I am no expert in codes (especially residential) or anything, just knew that Aluminum wiring is bad in inspections. I wasnt aware that it was common to have Al main leads in residential. (I have copper for my main)

@Lawfarin , I didn't think of it that way but you are correct, and in retrospect, everything yall are saying makes sense. To add, while the power lines, themselves, are Aluminum, all low voltage line protection (everything in the substations +the ground grid in a substation) is all copper wiring.

Twice this week Ive gone to Home Depot and it looks like a Hurricane sale...bunch of old people mulling around like they are at a library. Parking lot was pretty much full or couldnt get into some spots....utterly ridiculous.

It was more of just a whim that I did this to be honest. Thought I'd see if there was any interest before I list it, so not really sure. Talking with a realtor tomorrow, and will get back on that part. House was built in 98, mom got cancer, died in 2000. Dad passed on 08. House was never really finished. Close. We were going to move down here but life has a way! Long story, don't have the energy anymore, so its time to unload. House is 5 bedroom 3 1/2 bath, walk out basement, almost 4000 sq ft, with an detached garage and shop. No one has never really lived in it.
