    Booooo.

The explanations help, but not much. Maybe I'll revisit the idea of +3.5. +2 would've been so sweet tho.

Yes your 3rd member would swap directly onto a 2nd gen rear axle housing. I don’t understand why anyone would do that or a tundra axle though. Same weak semi-float design with drum brakes. All you get is a little extra width. Go with an LC rear axle - huge 9.5” ring gear, full float, disc brakes, and is about the same width as a 2nd gen. Tons of aftermarket support as well.
I am definitely going to have to get one and try to frankenstein a CV together to see. Although I’ve never blown up the tulip joint, so if the outer joint is the same is it really worthwhile?

    Oh.
I doubt it. Looking at pictures, the length of the overall bearing is off. Besides, my suspension doesnt articulate enough to warrant an inner C/V.

I don't think it will work. And not needed unless your inner's are binding. With my extended travel kings, mine don't bind :notsure:

Check out the pics here: Will need a slightly longer shaft to work as far as I can tell.

3.5 kit has every advantage over the +2 kit including cost and cv simplicity

So...best way to bend a 3/16" skid back into place? Took my Budbilt IFS off the other day to do an oil change and the effing thing is twisted in the back portion where it mounts under the steering rack.

Something tells me this isn't a job for a BFH

If it were a dent, yeah...but the back is twisted, I don't see how a hammer is going to untwist steel. But I guess I'll have to try to find out lol.

Maybe prop it somewhere and drive on top of it slightly to try to bend back?

I know it’s a tight fit right there but you could use longer screws and tighten it with both sides, then use a jack to keep the skid in place while exchanging the long bolts for the normal shorter ones... that’s what I had to do every time installing my relentless skids :anonymous:

Our trucks are old, face that fact. Why would companies develop new products for these trucks when the demand is already low for the already existing kits, as compared to a kit for a 2nd or 3rd gen?

Actually that's not a bad idea, I think I may have twisted it myself by using it as a floor jack point in the wrong area once (too far back). I'll have to crawl under and see if the mount for the skid under the steering rack is bent too, I'm guessing it probably is

Yeah I think it would have been cool if done well. Really the only reason there is a +2 kit is some race standard that Total chaos entered and then everyone else followed.

I love my +3.5 kit though. Its amazing how awesome it handles. The width has stopped me a few times, but not often.

Im not sure it is worth it or not. I can say when my front diff locked up at 45 mph after catching air...the CVs are fine..haha Good enough for me!

Yeah I doubt you'd gain anything in terms of travel. Usually the Upper ball joint is the main culprit to limiting travel.

Yeah it wouldn’t be for more travel, would purely be for any additional strength of the joint.
Might just try it for the hell of it.

But its the outer race that always fails on these trucks. The inner joint looks much less susceptable to failure IMHO.

Got me some parts from Gunny to prep for my Supercharger install and top end refresh. I also will be ditching the K&N.

Bravo, much better than what I did by cutting the wires. I love the jumper idea.

A BFH over and over and over. That's how I adjust mine. Though I am getting to the point where the IFS needs to just get replaced soon.

There was a guy in one of the 1st gen fb groups running 37's on IFS. I was amazed and was wondering how he wasn't snapping cv's left and right and he said he's using the tundy cv's with LT.

    Not always.
