I'm also curious. Do you want to buy it back and fix it up for a daily driver or a dedicated rock crawler?

The buyback is the estimated amount that the insurance company would yield in a salvage sale. Call a local salvage auction yard to get a quote. (Ie Copart, Adessa, IAA, ETC...) Usually about 11% of ACV.

well im not sure if this will help but i have bought two salvage tacos. first one was a 99 ext cab. non-trd 3.4 4x4 5spd bone stock 118xxx for 3,900 from copart. fixed it then gave it to my father. then bought an other one, 01 taco 3.4 ext cab trd 5 spd lifted with super swammpers and magna flow exhaust 113xxx for 4,300. both had minor right front damage nothing big.

But does the damage on the vehicle lower the cost of the salvaged vehicle?

im sure it does, i believe they factor in how much it would cost to repair it to the base value....some how. i know that when bidding on a car the amount of damage totally changes everything.

    completely stock
its usually 20% of the value of the vehicle.

    I had a 03 hayabusa i got 8000 for. the buy back was 1,600.

    I had an s10 totalled. i got 6500 buy back was 1,250.

Both with progressive insurance, not sure if it varies by ins. companies

Edit: Total loss on the busa (over 9000 in damage on paper).
4,800 worth of damage on the S10 (i bought back and fixed for $700 out of pocket).

ok, well that helps. That means its ganna probably cost quite a bit to buy it back then. Gay!!
Everyone ive talked to, said the buy back would probably be like 1200. But no body knows the re-sale value of these trucks except Tacoma owners!
