front.jpg Screen Shot 2019-05-01 at 2.28.30 PM.jpg Now that BAMF grills are obsolete for trucks with TSS, I was playing around with photoshop to come up with a good looking grill for current late model trucks with the sensor.

I came up with this that I think looks very good. Both the aftermarket and oem grills have the receptacle for the sensor and utilizes full TSS control features.

What we have here is an OEM or aftermarket grill of a Pro, with the center bar color matched to the truck (calvary blue in my case), with the "TOYOTA" painted matte black and the "TRD" in raised red domed lettering.

Aftermarket Pro grills are about $100 and oem are $400. They look far better than the factory TRD Sport black chrome grills which I really don't like.

    Thoughts?

Ive been thinking about designing an entire grill. I love the BAMF, but they are phased out now with TSS.
What do you guys think about a RECESSED PRO style?

    I like it OP.

My truck is black and I go with red accents. Curious if a red cross bar on a black would be too "loud"?

@17TRDSport It's different, I like different. Would love to see a working example painted and installed. Nothing wrong with having more options on the market, that's for sure.

@MESO Same goes for you, would like to get a better idea of the concept you're looking at. Been dying to replace the stock SR5 grill. Make me want to spend some cash, lol.

Ditto on both of these, looks great OP and would also like to see the recessed MESO mentioned.

This is exactly what is needed. My only complaint about my pro grille is it sticks out too far. I love the recessed look on the BAMF.

In a white truck like yours you could just keep the grill black and do the "TOYOTA" lettering in white. That would subdue the look quite a bit. Or something simple like losing the "TRD" simplifies the look.

Yeah but idk I actually like the standard grey lettering at this point.

On a side note I kinda wish they went with "TOYOTA" for the tailgate stamp instead of "TACOMA". Oh well.

Yes. Thats the one thing I really dont like about the current Pro grille. I couldnt find anything I really liked, so I just went ahead and ordered the black trim ring from the SR.

    can you recess the grill
can you recess a grill and keep the TSS? I think that's the issue. At least my understanding is BAMF thought it was too much of a PIA to retrofit all his hours invested in his design to accommodate the TSS.

I think most on here, myself included, will agree it looks better than the stock TRD Off-Road and Sport grille.

Check Dupli-Color. They may have them. I bought some MGM spray a few weeks back for a grill and it was a good match at ~1/3 the price of PaintScratch.

for $100 plus paint i think its a no brainer until something better comes along. I actually really like it because it looks (is) factory. It's certainly the grill that should have come on the TRD Sport. why they decided on a crome grill is beyond me.
