A 16" 600lb might be the ideal spring to minimize preload while still giving lift and a decent ride

Without conducting any google-fu, is this a known issue for BP-51s? After a certain time they start to leak?

That’s a bad idea. You’re gonna get gnarly coil bind and it will behave exactly like preloaded. The coil doesn’t care where that pressure comes from but the shocks doesn’t magically get longer just cuz you wedge in a 2” longer coil. What you can try is get a slightly longer AND stiffer coil but set it on a lower notch.
Bilstein 6112 aren’t really adjustable and you can’t play with the shims stacks inside so if you have a lot of weight to support over stock they’re not the best choice for you.

Holy shit that’s expensive. Specialty metals would a spot that could sell it to you and shear it. Why not just mild steel though? Stainless is expensive and extremely hard on the tools you would need to cut it with.

I'll give em a call on the way to work. Thanks!

I was planning to store it on the roof rack to keep it out of the way when it wasn't needed. So I figured stainless would hold up better to the rain and water. Not too experienced with metal working though, so if mild steel gets the job done and saves some money I'm all for it. 1/4" is overkill? @JimSnell I'll use cardboard to make one over the weekend and send you pics.

Very happy with my 6112's, i will be upgrading to the 650# spring in the near future. I have full skids and sliders and its great now but i like a firm ride, and I plan to add a slimline bumper and winch, when i do i'll throw in the 650's. Check out the 6112 thread in the suspension section, Bilstein DOES NOT recommend anything higher weight than 650....

Sway bar? whats a sway bar?:D
