a few days ago, i got rear ended.. the driver who hit me left patches of scratches underneath the rear bumper.. (the chrome part) So today I went the local auto body shop to see how much it would cost to remove those scratches and the gentlemen who inspected my car found all kinds of things that were wrong.. he said that the bumper was uneven and that from the contact, it may have damaged the mounting arm or brackets.. and since you can't buff out the scratches out from the chrome.. they may have to send it in to get it re dipped.. the estimate came out to almost 900 dollars.. What do you guys think? I know you guys are probably thinking why go so much trouble for minor scratches like that, but i biggest concern is what to make sure that my truck was up to par before squashing the situation.. the last thing i would want is 6 months from now out of no where i do start noticing problems from the accident and would totally regret not doing anything.. what do you guys think.. could there really be something wrong with my truck.. or what?

Is the person going to pay for it? If so get it done. I doubt it will affect the performance of the truck but if you go to resell it someone may notice it.

Whatever is "wrong" with your truck, get it fixed, your not paying for it so what's the hesitation for. Also, for $900, consider having the insurance company cut you a chEck which could be usEd to purchase an Offroad bumper with money still left over

Lol. That's why I added the word "consider". I had to delete my original post and rewrite it cuz it was to Offroad oriented without me having knowledge of the OP. lol

I got rear ended last year, quotes were $1200.00 - $1500.00. that was just to replace the bumper/paint. The bitch that hit me skipped on payment(no insurance). They also mentioned possible damage beyond bumper. get it checked out. piece of mind.
Unfortunately/fortunately, depending how u look at it, I was in a bigger accident and got it all replaced then.

Why i that when someone says the other person didn't have insurance, i always KNOW it is in Socal? Kinda sad.
Anyway, you could take it to another body shop and see if they say the same thing. These bumpers, and brackets are really cheap. They bend pretty easily, if you can't see the bumper bent, it probably isn't. Howbad was her car? Did it look bad enough to cause a lot of damage?

Edit.... for 900 bucks you can get a brand new sport bumper, painted, and not have to worry about any dipping.
