Hi TW. Just joined a few days ago. I was looking to do a re gear in my 2nd gen Tacoma. Just changed my tires to 35s. Any recommendations to what gear brands are good. I wanted to run 4.88s

Call ECGS and order the 3rd members already assembled and just swap them over easy peasy. Then just got to send yours back to them.

Ouch damn we'll see what they say. They are localish to me also if you can get in touch with nitro gear and see if there is a recc. installer in your area that could be another route

Nittro gears and I got the rem option. So the break in period is way way shorter.

4WP, Maui Off Road, or see if Boss 4x4 carries any you like because they send a pallet to Oahu every month or so.

I’d check the Hawaii sub forum for more advice. Some of the guys there (@seoulja99 and @inksin) have done gears, but they both did full third member swaps from ECGS I believe.

I would do this. 4.88’s. Anything higher in gear ratio will lower your top speed.
ECGS is legit. Otherwise try universal4x4.com, trailgear, or Amazon:puke:

    ECGS third members FTW!

Shipping isn't as bad as you'd think via UPS. Plus, the core charge is returned to you once they receive your stock third members.

Painless and very reliable. Plus, customer services is top notch.

@deeezy also went with ECGS, and they warranty parts. I believe ECGS uses Nitro gears.

Seems like the easiest way. 4.88s should be good for 35s with the 4.0 right?

That’s what I have. 2012 DCSB TX Baja series (TRD Offroad) 4.0 with some upgrades on 35’s.
