Best All Terrain Tire... for Florida?

Hey all. I’ve been reading up a ton on all terrain tires and there’s a lot of really great info on some threads. However I keep seeing a lot of “this one is awesome in snow / ice!” Seeing as that doesn’t really matter to us Floridians lol, I thought I’d ask what some of you locals are running for an all terrain tire?

One of my concerns is wet traction, especially during the summer bc we get rain like every day. I drive interstate about 240 miles per week at minimum. But once I’ve got the truck outfitted, I want to start taking it to Citrus, Hard Rock and such as well for some good off roading.

I’ve had recommendations for the Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Falken Wildpeak, and lots of recommendations for Cooper, but I’ve also seen some reviews on those that say wet traction isn’t the best, and mention of hydroplaning. Found this article also that was a good read.

Just ended up scooping up the SCS 16” F5s and they get here next Wed, woot! Need to decide on tires and a 3” lift.

With that much highway driving, I'd stay towards the Falken Wildpeak AT3s, check out the Goodyear Ultra Terrain from Discount tire (exclusive to them). If you need better wet traction, the new Bridgestone AT Revo3 are supposed to rival most dedicated street tires for wet traction. While still being aggressive enough for off pavement.
Look, honestly down here in Florida. Unless you want to hit the nasty mud spots. You dont need mud tires, I'm dumping mine once worn out.

I havent heard good things about Ridge Grapplers in the rain.
As for BF Goodrich tires, immensely popular. However, I have had nothing but blow outs and tread separations on any of them I have ran. From the ATs on personal trucks, to the commercial tires. On year, blew out all 6 Commercial TAs on my work truck. Never again will I run a BF tire.

 

Iv had bf Goodrich ko2s, General grabbers at2. Never had a problem. Running cooper st maxx now. I think the coooera have preformed the best so far. Hoping to get some good longetivity

 

i've been through 2 sets of ST Maxx, and I'm currently running Cooper AT3 LT's (because i wanted more wet traction than AT tires can provide). but if i was looking for a AT tire for highway driving with decent wet traction for a AT tire, ST Maxx would be it for sure. and actually i'll be buying a third set of those next change. and i'm 90%+ highway out here in DFW.

 

Im running cooper at3 and love them. C rated helps fuel, they do great in every scenario Ive put them in ranging from sugar sand to deep mud.

They drain a lot better than the ko2s IMO, and they sure as hell do better in the rain.

 

Late to the party, but I was running the Falken Wildpeak AT3's before I switched to the MT's I'm running now. Quiet and well mannered on the road and did really well offroad.

Nitto Ridge grapplers, around 30k miles on mine with no issues.

 

depends on what you use them for.. I really liked my toyo open country all terrains, great in sand, quiet on the highway. They far outlasted my BFG's. I recently put the toyo mud terrains on and you lose a little but if highway comfort but the mud performance is unreal. They're also the quietest mud terrain that I've ever found...for now. We'll see when they wear down a bit.
