    Finally got the ok from the wife to spend money on a truck and I haven't stopped reading and looking for a new(or old) taco since.

    Glad you’re here! Tremendous amount of Tacoma knowledge in this place.
    I really like 2018 Gen-3, compared to my 2006 Gen-2. The ‘06 was a great truck, but the ‘18 is just better.

    Thank you.

    I initially started looking for a work truck 1st gen, but the more I am looking around and learning details of the platform I am starting leaning more and more towards a 3rd gen for my new DD/fun truck. I'm definitely wanting 4x4 for use on my property, but need to keep under ~10k for a 2nd vehicle. It's hard to justify that for examples with 200k+ miles.

    These trucks hold their value so well, it's getting harder and harder for me to not bite the bullet and just buy a new or slightly used 3rd gen or late 2nd gen as a DD.

    Welcome! I was in the same boat as you. I was looking for a cheap beater truck with a budget of 5-10k. That didnt last long, I ended up spending 19k on my 2009 taco with 59,000 miles. I am in love with it, only regret (kinda) is not getting an Offroad model with the locker. Oh well, I still have 4x4 and could always throw an ARB locker or Trutrac LSD later on. Good luck on your search!
