They run 18 wheels on these roads, what are you looking at?

    That might be big
All depends on how good the trailer's suspension is.

There are places that folks will pull up and set up a camper right off the road. I wouldn’t want to be in the dust, but others seem ok with it.

a 19 foot trailer might be big to drag through the back country in Maine. It's fine for base-camp down here.

Anyone have an opinion about comping in Baxter state park Sunday night? Alternative is a primative site in the NMW.

most trailers have a un-dampened leaf spring suspension.. very bouncy...

I am starting to design an offroad trailer using a fabricated swingarm, a used car spring, and an inexpensive shock (like a $40 procomp, or something similar)...

looking to have solar panels, adjustable height rack for RTT, water, and gas (jerry can) storage, space for a fridge/freeze, and electrical/battery for it as well. suitcase generator storage(I have a suitcase honda 1000watt, good for lights, and small tools, or battery charging) sealed storage, and a fold down table for cooking/prep, full size 285/75/16 spare, and using full size toyota rims, so I can swap with the truck if i need to.

this is all purely hypothetical, and in design stage, as I dont have a decent welder right now, and I would like to build it with lightweight, and strength in mind.. would love to do it in chromoly tube... as i dont like aluminum for cracking reasons, BUT thinking some 2" square tube for a base frame, and 20guage steel and creative bends will make for a strong structure & waterproof., and some aluminum backed 1/2" ply should be sturdy enough, and easily replaceable in case of an accident, or trail damage. planning to have flat outer walls, and recessed locks/handles. its not going to be cheap, but it's also not going to be $12k

These can be bouncy as well, theres no shock absorber. Not to knock on a new purchase, but torsion suspensions can start to sag over time. especially if you leave it with a load on it all the time (storing gear, and not using jack stand/leveling jacks.) if you plan to store the trailer for a number of months, I recommend tire covers (uv protection), and jack up the trailer, and put it on blocks..
