I just noticed that I have tiny specs on my windshield. It almost looks like there is dirt inside the glass. It doesn't rub off, and is only visible at night (when light passes through, of course). Does this mean I am cleaning my windows with the wrong kind of glass cleaner?

I just noticed this problem last week. I rain-xed all of the windows on my truck about 9 months ago and I wonder if the glittery specks are the result of that. Maybe it's the rain-x breaking down. I used Bon Ami on the windshield and it reduced the amount of glittery stuff but it didn't get rid of all of it.

I don't think that's it. The specks are uniform in size and distribution on the glass. They are also on the side windows as well.

Try using an all purpose cleaner like simple green or something of the nature. When I have strange things on my windows I'll try anything. 3M adhesive remover, Tarminator, those help with tree sap. Then I clean it 3 times with Invisible Glass by Stoner to make sure all the crap is cleaned off well.

I don't know what's going on w/ your windshield, but it might be one of my least favorite parts. In the morning it's got the usual 'fog', but I can't get it off! I really think it's between the 2 layers of glass. I'm contemplating having the dealer replace it while it's still under warranty.

Anyone else w/ that problem (sorry if this turns into a threadjack)?

It's cool. Happens to me only on freezing cold temperatures.

Try cleaning the windshield with clay bar. It's likely just grime that has built up on your windshield, like it does on your paint.

I thought about doing that. I clay barred my truck a couple of months ago and I was very impressed with the results.

are there any recommended clay bars to use and links to get one? I googled it but there were a lot of results. I am having the same issue, I noticed my windshield having the little specs on it but I have deliberately parked AWAY from trees for this reason
