Does anyone know if by downloading techstream and buying a patch cable if I would be able to update/reprogram modules?
I’m looking to have the ability to perform my own TSB and recall work but am not sure if by downloading techstream that it will give dealer level access.

No, you will not have access with a knockoff cable and pirated software. You would need a Techstream Subscription at the proper level in order to do what you want. I am assuming you mean update the firmware in the various Control Modules etc.

does TechStream read and display all of the info from all of the modules in the knockoff version? Or is the only difference the ability to reprogram?

Not a hijack, just adding to it.

Slight hi-jack, I’ve been looking to get a techstream cable/software, which ones actually work? Some of these knockoff ones seem sketchy to me

They are more expensive but actually work reliably

I have a mini VCI cable. It works for customizing, TPMS sensors and keys. It does not work for reflashes. If you want to be able to reflash, then you need a Tactrix. I ended up getting a Tactrix in the long run, so my mini VCI sits.

Cheap mongoose cables have caused modules to fail during reflashes in the dealers. I know there's talented people that can repair the modules but I would never ever program my $30k+ truck with a 15$ cable and pirated software.
